Recently, a close-up photo of young Li Xiao was released on the official WeChat account of the movie "Volunteer Army". Due to our lack of necessary introduction to the character and its appearance in advance, it caused a series of misunderstandings among netizens. We sincerely apologize for this.
On August 15th, we successively released photos of the 59 actors in the film on our official WeChat account, expressing our gratitude to each actor for participating in the filming of the film. Actors have also posted their own pre release photos of their roles on their Weibo accounts, as well as daily photos without the appearance in the film. This design is the last scene taken by the children, so we chose to use this photo to record this moment.

Due to our lack of careful consideration, we did not provide necessary introduction to the appearance and background of the young character Li Xiao on the day of its release, which caused unnecessary confusion and misunderstanding among netizens. We apologize once again to all the netizens, as well as to the young actor Zhang Xiran who played Li Xiao and was affected by this incident. We also apologize to all the creators of the film.
We deeply understand the doubts raised by netizens. When shaping the character of Li Xiao, the creative team consulted a large amount of information on orphans before the founding of New China. Children like Li Xiao are not exceptional. Her unfortunate childhood is not only a part of her personal experience, but also a thorn that pierces into the hearts of every Chinese person. And every audience member feels uncomfortable and uncomfortable with this "appearance", which is also anger towards the bullying of Chinese people by foreign powers at that time. We understand this anger and are willing to use a sincere work to interpret our choices at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China - to resist US aggression and aid Korea, and to defend our country.
Thank you for your supervision. In our future work, we will be more cautious in our words and actions, and we hope everyone will continue to supervise and correct us.
