Announcement No. 100 of the General Administration of Customs: Prevention of Monkeypox Epidemic from Entering China | Personnel | China
Announcement of the General Administration of Customs No. 100 of 2023
Since May 2022, the monkeypox epidemic has continued to spread widely in multiple regions around the world. As of now, more than 89000 confirmed cases of monkeypox, including 152 deaths, have been reported in 113 countries. Recently, monkeypox outbreaks have been on the rise in Europe, the Americas, and the Western Pacific region. In order to prevent the spread of monkeypox epidemic to China and protect the health and safety of entry-exit personnel, in accordance with the laws and regulations such as the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China and its implementation rules, the following announcement is hereby issued:
1、 Individuals from countries with monkeypox outbreaks who have come into contact with monkeypox cases or experience symptoms such as fever, chills, headaches, drowsiness, fatigue, back pain, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, and widespread rash on the face and body should proactively declare to customs upon entry. Customs health inspectors will take medical measures and conduct sampling and testing in accordance with prescribed procedures.
2、 Aircraft, ships, containers, and goods from countries where monkeypox outbreaks have occurred that have been contaminated or are at risk of contamination should undergo hygiene treatment in accordance with prescribed procedures.
This announcement shall come into effect from the date of publication and be valid for 6 months.
