The number of injured in an explosion accident that occurred at a factory in Moscow, Russia on the 9th has risen to 60, with 8 people still missing.
According to a local official cited by the Russian news agency, the accident has resulted in 60 injuries and 8 missing people. Search and rescue personnel are clearing the ruins of the explosion, and no fatalities have been found at the scene of the accident. A female injured person died after unsuccessful rescue efforts in the intensive care unit.
TASS reported that on the morning of the 9th, an explosion occurred in the fireworks and firecracker storage warehouse near the Zagorsk Optical Machinery Factory in the town of Sergeyev, Moscow Oblast. Zagorsk Optical Machinery Factory stated that the warehouse is not a factory facility. The explosion shattered the window glass of multiple houses on two streets, and factories and surrounding personnel were evacuated.
Russian media reported that the explosion occurred at a company leasing a fireworks storage warehouse of approximately 1600 square meters from the factory. The cause of the accident was caused by human factors, and the possibility of drone attacks has been preliminarily ruled out.
The local emergency department previously stated that around 10:45 local time, they received reports of an explosion and injuries at the Zagorsk Optical Machinery Factory.
At present, relevant Russian departments are conducting an investigation into the accident, and the Russian Investigation Committee has filed a criminal case for violating safety production regulations.
