Original infrastructure repair and environmental disinfection and sterilization——
Shulan Primary and Secondary Schools have all started as scheduled
"Hello classmates!" "Hello teacher!"
On the first day of the new semester, Jia Lida, a junior high school student at the Third Middle School in Shulan City, Jilin Province, was full of expectations: "In the new semester, I will work harder and strive towards the goal of getting into my desired high school."
On August 21st, the Third Middle School in Shulan City, Jilin Province officially opened, and the classrooms were filled with the sound of books.
When the reporter walked into the campus, it was just in time for the school's big break activity. On the playground, the physical education teacher explained the essentials of fitness exercises and led the students to practice. Just a week ago, this was the largest resettlement site in Shulan City during this flood season.
"After completing the resettlement task, in order to ensure that the school starts on schedule, the school organizes all teachers to return to school ahead of schedule, comprehensively carries out work such as campus dredging, infrastructure repair, environmental disinfection and sterilization and lesson preparation for the new semester, and increases environmental disinfection and sterilization efforts in key areas such as dormitories and canteens." Sun Guomin, the principal of Shulan No. 3 Middle School, introduced that on August 21, all 581 students of the school had arrived at school normally, and teaching work was carried out normally and orderly.
Jinma Town in Shulan City is one of the areas most severely affected by the current flood season. After the flood, a large area of water overflowed on the campus of Jinma Town Central Primary School. Tables and chairs in the classroom collapsed, and mud blocked the windows and doors. Starting from August 12th, the school's faculty and staff will return to the campus one after another, clearing mud, flushing corridors, and renovating facilities, making every effort to reorganize the campus.
At present, there are almost no traces of water rushing through the classroom. "The first floor of the teaching building and the kindergarten classrooms were damaged by floods. After evaluation, we have transferred the kindergarten students to the second floor of the teaching building for classes, and converted the multifunctional classrooms and conference rooms into senior classrooms." Zhang Haina, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of Jinma Town Central Primary School, introduced that the school has also borrowed the cafeteria of Shulan No. 28 Middle School to ensure the health and safety of students' meals.
"At present, all 55 public primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in the city have started school as scheduled, and no one is unable to return to school as scheduled due to disasters or family difficulties." Yuan Shukun, Deputy Director of the Education Bureau of Shulan City, introduced that before the start of school, the Education Bureau of Shulan City organized schools to conduct investigations on all students, understand the disaster situation of each student's family, and carry out targeted assistance work to ensure that students return to school as scheduled.
Psychological counseling cannot be ignored in post disaster reconstruction. "We have organized 30 qualified full-time and part-time mental health teachers in Shulan City to establish an education system psychological service volunteer team, providing psychological intervention and counseling services to the disaster stricken population, helping them rebuild their confidence in life as soon as possible." Yuan Shukun said.
