CCTV News: Recently, temperatures in many parts of China have continued to rise, leading to an earlier peak in electricity consumption. The reporter learned from Southern Power Grid that the highest load of Guangdong and Guangxi power grids increased by nearly 4% and nearly 13% year-on-year respectively this week. During this year's peak summer electricity season, various regions have adopted digital methods such as virtual power plants to optimize intelligent power allocation.
According to data from Southern Power Grid, the highest power load in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan provinces and regions increased by 4.38% year-on-year this week, reaching 211 million kilowatts, approaching a historical peak. Since the beginning of this year, the load of the power grids in Guangxi and Hainan has repeatedly reached historical highs.

Yuan Quan, Director of the Power Dispatching and Control Center of Southern Power Grid, said that it is expected that during the summer season, the highest demand for electricity in the five southern provinces and regions will be 245 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 10%. Coupled with the impact of water shortage in major river basins, the power supply guarantee in the southern region will face significant challenges.
In order to fully utilize the power load regulation resources, the five southern provinces and regions are accelerating the construction progress of virtual power plants. On June 30th, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in Guangdong, as well as Liuzhou in Guangxi, carried out multifunctional joint control of virtual power plants simultaneously for the first time. In Shenzhen, Guangdong, the "virtual power plant" aggregates idle power resources from two electric vehicle charging stations, bearing a peak load of 0.03 megawatts. The entire regulation process only takes 25 seconds, and the processing capacity is basically close to that of a physical power plant.

The reporter learned that currently, the scale of various resources such as new energy storage, electric vehicle charging and swapping facilities, distributed photovoltaics, and wind solar energy storage and charging microgrids connected to virtual power plant platforms in Guangdong and Guangxi regions has exceeded 10000 megawatts, of which the adjustable capacity is over 1500 megawatts, equivalent to the production of seven 220 kV substations.
