Beijing, June 14th (Xinhua) - Wang Dong learned from a press conference held in Beijing by the State Council Information Office that all 45 Asian Olympic Committees have registered to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games, and the Chinese sports delegation will send more than 900 athletes to participate.
Zhou Jinqiang, Vice Chairman of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, stated at the press conference that currently, all 45 Asian Olympic Committees have registered to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games, and many of them will send the largest delegation in history to participate. From the registration situation, athletes from various Asian countries and regions are full of expectations for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
"This fully demonstrates that the Hangzhou Asian Games is an important platform for Asian sports unity and cooperation, and also demonstrates the remarkable achievements and strong attraction of China's high-quality economic and social development since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China." Zhou Jinqiang said.
The Chinese sports delegation, which is about to play at home, has attracted attention from all sectors of society. Zhou Jinqiang stated that they will give their all at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
"At present, the General Administration of Sport of China is carrying out the grouping work of the Chinese sports delegation. At that time, more than 900 athletes representing China's highest level will participate in the competition, competing with athletes from various countries and regions in Asia." Zhou Jinqiang said, "The Hangzhou Asian Games is the home ground of Chinese athletes and also a stage test for preparing for the Paris Olympics. They will strive to achieve good results, showcase good looks, and achieve both sports results and spiritual civilization."
The Hangzhou Asian Games consists of 40 major events, including 31 Olympic events and 9 non Olympic events. It includes Olympic events such as athletics and swimming, as well as some unique sports representing East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and West Asia, such as martial arts, wicker ball, cricket, jujutsu, and other sports. There are also emerging sports that young people love, such as skateboarding, rock climbing, and esports. Among them, esports and breakdancing were included in the official events of the Asian Games for the first time. Zhou Jinqiang stated that it is expected that more than 12000 athletes, 5000 team officials, 4700 technical officials, more than 12000 media reporters, and millions of spectators from all over Asia will participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games, and the scale of the event will reach a new high.
Zhao Sujing, Vice Chairman of the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Disabled Persons Federation, introduced to reporters the preparation of the China Disabled Persons Federation for the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games: "Our participation goal is to match the size of the delegation with the status of the host country, continue to maintain a leading position, achieve both sports results and spiritual civilization, and ensure exciting competition and outstanding participation."
Zhao Sujing said, "At present, we are actively preparing for training and participating in various international competitions to prepare for the formation of a national team for people with disabilities. Since the beginning of this year, we have organized 17 teams, including athletics and swimming, with more than 600 people, to conduct training in provinces and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Fujian, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Guangdong, and Hebei. As of the end of May, we have sent a total of 16 visiting teams to participate in international competitions, winning a total of 128 gold medals, 115 silver medals, and 95 bronze medals. The national training team for the Hangzhou Asian Para Games will hold training in training bases in Beijing, Zhejiang, and other places in July this year, and the delegation is planned to be established in October."
Zhao Sujing also said, "Among the 22 major events of the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games, 19 of them are qualifying events for the Paris Paralympic Games. Therefore, throughout the entire preparation process, we have prepared for both games simultaneously. In the process of participating in and preparing for the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games, we further select talents, select outstanding athletes, and actively prepare to participate in next year's Paris Paralympic Games.
