The 2023 Air Force Aviation Open Event - Changchun Aviation Exhibition opened on the 26th in Changchun. Multiple flying and parachuting performance teams danced together in the long sky. The J-20 demonstrated its maneuverability in a four aircraft formation, the Y-20 conducted its first aerial refueling display with the J-20 and J-16, and the J-10S and J-11BS conducted its first simulated air combat demonstration with different aircraft... This event focused on showcasing the phased achievements of the People's Air Force in accelerating the construction of a world-class air force, with numerous highlights.
At around 9 o'clock in the morning, members of the "August 1st" parachuting team jumped off the plane with the party flag, national flag, August 1st military flag, and air force flag, marking the beginning of the flying performance. The Air Force's August 1st Flight Performance Team, equipped with the J-10C, made its public debut in China for the first time. Several J-10C aircraft performed stunning maneuvers such as changing direction in a heavy fight, rolling six aircraft, grouping six aircraft into groups, and visually following a small route landing with five aircraft.
"We will present a visual feast that blends technology and aesthetics with more stunning speed, extreme altitude, more flexible maneuverability, and more innovative performance actions," said Li Bin, captain of the Air Force August 1st Flight Performance Team.
The predecessor of the Air Force Aviation Brigade responsible for the J-20 flight performance mission was the first air combat force created by our party. The four J-20s equipped with the "Chinese Heart" underwent flight demonstrations such as a dense formation of four aircraft at the rear, a diamond formation of four aircraft, and a field pass of two aircraft in the front. "Unlike previous air shows, the Y-20 is no longer a single static display and single aircraft flight, but a comprehensive presentation of system capabilities, especially when flying with J-16 and J-20 formations, showcasing the combat posture commonly used in our daily combat training," said Y-20 pilot Wang Yuling.
This is the 10th Aviation Open Event held by the People's Air Force in Changchun. In 2023, the Air Force successfully recruited all 31 provinces to fly, with a steady increase in the number of recruits and a continuous improvement in the overall quality of admitted flight students.
Air Force spokesperson Xie Peng stated that this year's aviation opening up event coincides with the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Korean War. The Air Force will invite representatives of some exemplary units who have participated in the Korean War to review the combat history and tell the story of the air battle on site. They will also express their commemoration of the great victory of the Korean War in a unique way unique to the Air Force.
