Actions speak louder than words, and status depends on actions. In response to the remarks of the US Defense Council, China stated that leadership is not hegemonic
Singapore, 3 Jun (Xinhua)-- the Chinese delegation held a media briefing on 3 June during the Shangri-La Dialogue to resolutely oppose the false accusations made by US Defense Secretary Austin on the Chinese side. He introduced China's principled stand on the US "Indo-Pacific strategy," the Taiwan issue, the South China Sea issue, and the relations between the Chinese and US armed forces, and sent three words to the US side: "leadership is not hegemony, status depends on deeds, and actions speak louder than words."
Major General Jing Jianfeng, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, first pointed out the essence of the United States advocating the "Indo Pacific strategy" to consolidate its hegemonic position. Jing Jianfeng stated that 32 years have passed since the Cold War, and the United States has not only failed to eliminate remnants of the Cold War such as the "Five Eyes Alliance" and bilateral military alliances, but has also concocted a "quadrilateral mechanism" and trilateral security partners, dividing camps and provoking confrontation based on ideology. "The United States, for its own selfish interests, disregards the demands of regional countries for stability and governance, and uses inducements and coercion to put other countries at the forefront as guns, fundamentally maintaining a hegemonic system of aesthetic supremacy."
On the Taiwan issue, Jing Jianfeng severely refuted the remarks made by the US side concerning Taiwan, ignoring the facts and subverting black and white. "for some time, the US side has constantly falsified the one-China principle, strengthened official exchanges with the Taiwan region, connived at 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities, enhanced the quantity and performance of arms sales to Taiwan, frequently sailed through the Taiwan Strait to show off its force, and drew other countries to intervene in the Taiwan issue."
The hat of changing the status quo cannot be put on the Chinese side!
Jing Jianfeng stated that in recent years, the United States has continued to intervene in the South China Sea issue, taking the opportunity to suppress other countries. This is completely contrary to the willingness and efforts of regional countries to seek peace, seek development, and promote stability. China advocates resolving the South China Sea dispute through peaceful means. Regional countries have the ability, confidence, and wisdom to handle the South China Sea issue well, without the need for countries outside the region to meddle in their own affairs.
Jing Jianfeng said, "The United States is the real driving force behind the tense situation in the South China Sea. In recent years, the United States has frequently dispatched advanced ships and aircraft to the South China Sea to provoke and cause trouble, and has implemented 'freedom of navigation' operations as usual. The United States has also intensified its efforts by increasing temporary and rotating deployments, adding military bases, and continuously strengthening its presence in the South China Sea region. Such actions by the United States will only bring more security risks and greater crisis risks."
In response to the US Defense Minister's accusation of "unprofessional interception actions by the Chinese military," Jing Jianfeng stated that the Southern Theater Command of China has already revealed the truth about this, with the US leading in reconnaissance and interference, and the Chinese side handling it in accordance with the law. China firmly upholds the freedom of navigation and overflight enjoyed by all countries in accordance with international law. The actions taken by the Chinese military are necessary measures to respond to provocations from relevant countries, and are entirely reasonable, legal, safe, and professional.
Jing Jianfeng pointed out that China attaches great importance to the development of military relations between China and the United States, and the contacts and exchanges between the two armies have not been interrupted. The current difficulties faced by the military relations between China and the United States are the responsibility of the US side. But while calling for communication and exchange, the US is also concerned about harming China's interests; There is no such thing as claiming to strengthen crisis management while constantly provoking and showing strength. China urges the US to truly respect China's core interests and major concerns, take practical actions to remove obstacles in military exchanges between the two sides, and promote the return of military relations to the right track.
"The Xianghui is a platform for discussing security, not a runway for promoting hegemony. China is here for peace, development, and cooperation, while the United States is clearly here to promote its' leadership position ', to smear and suppress others, and to maintain its own hegemony." Jing Jianfeng said, "I believe that countries that adhere to strategic autonomy and pursue peaceful development will not dance with the United States and follow the old path of camp confrontation."
