On the evening of August 8th, the 31st World University Summer Games came to a successful conclusion in Chengdu, Sichuan. The Chinese delegation won a total of 103 gold medals, 40 silver medals, and 35 bronze medals, ranking first on the medal table and achieving the best performance in the history of China's participation in the Universiade. China, together with the International Sports Federation and delegations from various countries and regions, has contributed a sports event with Chinese characteristics, contemporary atmosphere, and youthful charm to the world.
All-out struggle with excellent results
Over the course of more than 10 days, 269 gold medals in 18 major events of this Universiade were won by athletes from 35 countries and regions. Starting with martial arts athlete Cao Maoyuan as the Chinese university sports delegation winning the first gold medal at this year's Universiade, Chinese university athletes maintained a strong momentum of striving for excellence, and ultimately achieved gold medals in all major events.
The basic major performance is impressive and the harvest is quite substantial. The athletics event won 10 championships, with Xia Yuyu from Tsinghua University winning the gold medal in the women's 10000 meters, and Xie Zhiyu from Peking University breaking the national record in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
