Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Biechericha: Feeling the shock of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind
Don't Chericha
Vladimir Federvich Becherica is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the Far Eastern Federal University of Russia, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and an expert in China studies. In 1996, he was included in the "Russian Political Science Celebrity List" by the Russian National Social Science Foundation and has been dedicated to the interpretation and dissemination of Chinese political concepts in the Russian speaking world for many years.
This year, his work "A Community with a Shared Future for Humanity: From Concept to Practice" was reprinted and released. Recently, the author of this article had a conversation with Becherica and listened to him tell the story of his connection with China.
Q: What kind of fate brought you into contact with China?
Becherica: I was born in the border city of Belgorsk, Russia, just over 70 kilometers away from the Chinese border, so in my childhood memories, China was not unfamiliar. When I was seven or eight years old, nearly half of my playmates running on the street were Chinese children. Although there were certain barriers in our language communication at that time, we could communicate smoothly and play harmoniously through gestures and other means. At the same time, I am surrounded by many Chinese neighbors who come here to work, contract land for agricultural cultivation, and engage in cross-border barter trade. Their greatest impression on me is diligence, wisdom, and kindness.
Q: What are the similarities and differences between your childhood impression of China and now?
Don't Chericha: When I was a child, my impression of China came more from the Chinese neighbors living around me. They dressed simply but were hardworking and wise. I witnessed them building greenhouses on permafrost and growing vegetables in harsh environments. And my childhood Chinese playmate was sincere, friendly, and knew how to share. We lived together in great harmony for a long time. So whenever I recall the little moments I had with my Chinese neighbors when I was a child, I feel moved by their innate kindness and tolerance. I have always believed that with their hard work and wisdom, China will definitely become prosperous and strong. Despite the rapid development in China, the qualities of diligence, wisdom, and kindness of the Chinese people have never changed.

Q: Why are you interested in the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind?
Don't be fooled: Based on my childhood memories and teaching experiences in many countries, Chinese people have a powerful ability to live in harmony with local people in foreign countries for a long time, which I believe is rare among ethnic groups in other countries. This helps me understand the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. Of course, another important point is that in 2013, Moscow became the first stop for the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind to emerge from China and face the world, which is enough to demonstrate the importance of this concept to Russia and Russian speaking countries.
Q: What is the dissemination and influence of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind in the Russian speaking world, and what achievements have you made in this field?
Becherica: The concept of a community with a shared future for mankind has strong dissemination and influence in the Russian speaking world. Currently, over 200 Russian language media outlets in 10 countries including Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia have extensively reported on this concept; More than a hundred journals and dozens of publishing houses have published articles and works on this concept, including my book "A Community with a Shared Future for Humanity: From Concept to Practice".
Q: What are your expectations for the future development of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind?
Don't Cherica: I sincerely hope that the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind can receive more attention, allowing people to set aside prejudices, seek common ground while reserving differences, and cooperate for mutual benefit. For me personally, I feel very fortunate to witness the birth of such a great idea in my academic career. I will carefully observe its impact on the world's development process and spend the rest of my life feeling the shock it brings.
