On August 11th, the well-known dummy Wang Hai posted multiple videos on his social media platform, claiming that the 30-year-old old shop in Zibo, Muyang Village, used non food grade stainless steel sticks for barbecue. After testing, it was confirmed that heavy metals exceeded the standard and did not meet food safety standards. The inspection report it presented shows that it does not meet the corresponding technical requirements for stainless steel in GB4806.9-2016. The judgment basis is stainless steel in accordance with GB4806.9-2016 National Food Safety Standard for Metal Materials and Products in Contact with Food.
The testing report released by Wang Hai
On August 13th, a reporter from Jimu News contacted the barbecue restaurant in Muyang Village. Mr. Yang, a staff member, introduced that on August 11th, Wang Hai had already reported the situation at the restaurant, and the Market Supervision Administration also took samples at the restaurant and sent them to a third party for testing. On the 11th, they processed all the stainless steel sticks they had previously used and purchased steel sticks made of 304 food grade stainless steel.
Mr. Yang said that it was not clear before that stainless steel skewers were food grade, and the steel skewers they used were purchased from the legitimate market. After receiving feedback on the situation, they contacted seven or eight manufacturers and managed to barely make up half of the daily usage. The remaining signatures were replaced with wooden ones. "Since someone has discovered the problem, let's make improvements," Mr. Yang said.
