According to RIA Novosti on August 14, citing Norwegian State Radio, for the first time since February 2022, a passenger plane belonging to Türkiye's BBN Airlines flew over Ukrainian territory.
According to the report, according to the company's information, the Airbus A320-200 flying from Oslo, the capital of Norway, to Antalya, Türkiye, was forced to change its route due to the storm, and finally appeared in the airspace of western Ukraine. The aircraft can accommodate up to 180 passengers.
BBN Airlines did not confirm to Norwegian national radio that their aircraft had entered a no fly zone. But the 24-hour flight radar website recorded that the aircraft deviated from its initial route over Romania and flew into closed Ukrainian airspace.
Meanwhile, BBN promises to take measures to prevent such situations from happening.
The Norwegian national radio station also contacted the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this matter, but the latter did not comment.
The report mentioned that Ukrainian airspace has been closed since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
