53 nationally protected animals died abnormally? Response from Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration | Birds | Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration
On the 26th, the Sanjiangyuan National Park Management Bureau responded to the recently highly publicized article "53 nationally protected animals died abnormally at the Sanjiangyuan National Park Cemetery".
On June 24, a official account published an article titled "Unusual Death of 53 National Protected Animals in Sanjiangyuan National Park as Cemetery".
The Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration stated that the location reported in the above article is not accurate. The bureau stated that on the evening of the 24th, after seeing the online article, it arranged for the Yangtze River Source Management Committee to verify the situation as soon as possible. After investigation, the location mentioned in the online article is within Zhenqin Township, Chengduo County, Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province. This area is called Jiatang and is not within the scope of Sanjiangyuan National Park.
The Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration stated to the public that the title of the article used "Sanjiangyuan National Park Cemetery" as a gimmick, which is suspected of stigmatizing Sanjiangyuan National Park.
Regarding the incident, the Sanjiangyuan National Park Management Bureau stated that after the incident, the bureau quickly followed up, and the Yushu Prefecture Committee and Government of Qinghai Province, as well as many county committees and governments, also conducted preliminary investigations into the relevant situation. The investigation results of the Natural Resources, Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Chengduo County show that on June 20th, herdsmen in Zhenqin Town reported that two suspicious individuals were collecting wild animal carcasses near the Jiatang Grassland. The Forest Police Brigade of Zhongduo County Public Security Bureau and relevant personnel from the County Natural Resources and Forestry Bureau immediately rushed to the scene to investigate and verify. They found that foreign personnel Chang and his companion Su have been picking up 50 bird carcasses, bones, and remaining feathers from recent years in Zhenqin Town and the Sichuan border in the past half month. At present, the cause of death of the picked up birds is unknown, and investigators are entrusting relevant institutions to identify the cause of death of the birds.
