According to TASS on July 30th, the main parade of the Russian Navy Day was held in St. Petersburg on July 30th. 45 ships and about 3000 soldiers received a review by the Russian President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin.
Accompanied by Russian Defense Minister General Shoigu and Navy Commander in Chief General Yevmenov, Putin boarded a presidential speedboat to inspect warships in the Gulf of Finland, the Neva River, and the military port of Kalenstadt, and extended festive congratulations to naval officers and soldiers.
According to reports, Putin said in his speech, "For centuries, our fleet has been a strong guardian of our motherland's borders, a glory and pride of our country... We pay tribute to the generations of Russian shipbuilders, naval commanders, and sailors."
He said that the excellent training level, loyalty to responsibilities and the motherland, and professional ethics of the navy largely determine Russia's great destiny. He emphasized that the Russian navy faithfully and selflessly served the country, "more than once becoming an indestructible fortress, blocking the enemy's path.".
Putin pointed out that the development history of the Russian navy destined its main mission to defend the motherland. He said, "The most sacred emotion - loyalty to the motherland - passed down from generation to generation is precisely the core of patriotism, a special naval culture that inspires naval officers and soldiers to proudly complete all the tasks entrusted by the country."
Putin said that the brave and indomitable qualities of Russian naval officers and soldiers are still fully demonstrated today. He said, "Our sailors are doing their best for Russia, demonstrating true heroism... Thank you to all the officers and soldiers of the Russian Navy! Thank you for carrying out your tasks flawlessly, thank you for your loyalty, diligence, and resilience, thank you for your selfless dedication to our motherland!"
Putin also said, "Today, Russia is confidently implementing a large-scale maritime policy and continuing to enhance its navy's strength. This year alone, 30 ships of different levels will join the naval fleet."
The report mentioned that four African leaders and representatives from five other African countries attended the military parade at the Russia Africa Summit held in St. Petersburg from July 27th to 28th.
Multiple submarines, patrol ships, small missile ships, minesweepers, and landing vessels from the Russian Northern Fleet, Pacific Fleet, Baltic Fleet, and Black Sea Fleet were reviewed.
Several other naval bases in Russia and the port of Tartus in Syria also held celebrations on the same day.
