According to reports, at around 1:40 pm that day, a bathhouse in Busan East District, about 320 kilometers southeast of Seoul, suddenly caught fire. Firefighters quickly rushed to the scene to put out the fire and temporarily controlled the fire; But an unknown second explosion occurred at the scene, causing the wall where the bathhouse was located to shatter and the fire to spread rapidly.
According to reports, the explosion injured 21 people, including firefighters who were hit by debris, and 2 of them suffered severe burns throughout their bodies.
Officials stated that due to the closure of the bathhouse on that day, there were no customers in the bathhouse.
A witness claimed that during the firefighting process, he heard two large explosions and saw the building shake.
The Busan Fire Department stated in a briefing that they suspect the explosion occurred in the boiler room in the basement of the building.
