18 people killed, intense gunfight between police and bandits in South Africa
On September 1, South African National Police Commissioner Masemola reported at a press conference that on the same day in Limpopo Province, a gang of criminals who tried to rob money carrying vehicles had a fierce gunfight with the police, and all 18 suspect were killed on the spot.
Masamora revealed that according to intelligence, the South African police had been closely deploying for nearly a week on how to apprehend this criminal gang and have located their hideout in a house in the Macado area of Limpopo Province. On the afternoon of the 1st, after receiving news that the criminal gang planned to rob a cash truck, the police launched an arrest before launching the criminal activity.
As the police gradually approached the house, the alarmed criminals began shooting at the police, followed by a 90 minute gunfight between the two sides. In the end, all 18 members of the above-mentioned criminal gang were killed by the police, including 2 women. A police officer was seriously injured and has been taken to the hospital for rescue.
The South African police subsequently seized 10 cars and 7 automatic rifles at the scene.
Masemora stated that this criminal gang had previously participated in a series of cash truck robberies in Limpopo Province, Mpumalanga Province, and Hauden Province, posing a serious threat to regional security. The South African police have been investigating it since January this year and have found that this criminal gang possesses a large number of weapons and explosives.
Masemola revealed that four other suspect associated with the criminal gang had been arrested in other regions before, so the criminal gang in many places in South Africa was basically terminated by the police.
