11 deaths and more than 40 missing. A smuggling boat bound for Italy sank in the waters of Sfax Province | Tunisia
Tunisian court officials said on the 7th that a smuggling boat sank in the waters near the province of Sfax in eastern Tunisia on the 6th, resulting in 11 deaths and more than 40 people missing.
Spokesperson Fazi MasMoody of the First Instance Court of Sfax said that the illegal immigration ship carried 57 illegal immigrants, most of whom came from sub Saharan African countries. The Tunisian Coast Guard has found the bodies of 11 stowaways and rescued 2 people in the waters near the island of Guerganai in the province of Sfax. They are still searching for other people who fell into the water.
