112 National Green Factories Rising in Beijing Nationwide | BOE | Factories
Beijing, August 14th (Xinhua) - Overlooking BOE's 8.5 generation factory in Yizhuang, Beijing, rows of solar photovoltaic panels cover the roof. A wastewater recovery system is installed in the factory area to achieve 100% recycled water production. Including the Beijing factory, the photovoltaic installed capacity of BOE's nationwide factories reaches 114 megawatts, which is equivalent to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by about 60000 tons.
On the occasion of the first National Ecological Day, the reporter learned from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology that, like BOE, more and more factories in Beijing are moving forward in a "green" direction. The number of national level green factories in the city has reached 112, and green and low-carbon are becoming the "new standard" for high-quality development in the capital.
What is a green factory? According to national standards, green factories refer to factories that have achieved land intensification, harmless raw materials, clean production, waste resource utilization, and low-carbon energy. In Beijing, green factories are accelerating their rise in various industries: ABB factories use big data and artificial intelligence to monitor and manage equipment, resulting in a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to three years ago; Yuekang Pharmaceutical will reuse boiler waste heat to save thousands of kilowatt hours of heat per day
The momentum of green development is surging, and policy support provides ample confidence. He Jin, Director of the Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, said that Beijing continuously optimizes local standards and formulates and releases the "14th Five Year Plan" action plan for green and low-carbon development in the manufacturing industry; Start "green diagnosis", with third-party service agencies providing on-site consultation and government funding support for green technology transformation. Since 2020, more than 30 projects have been supported with subsidies of nearly 50 million yuan.
To achieve green development, it is even more important to move the entire supply chain towards greenery. BOE, Beijing Benz and other chain owners have driven upstream and downstream enterprises to reduce emissions and carbon emissions, achieving green production. Beijing Mercedes Benz proposed in the previous memorandum of cooperation signed with Baosteel to gradually use more environmentally friendly low-carbon steel starting from this year. Starting from 2026, the carbon emission intensity of steel used in vehicles will gradually decrease by 50% to 80%.
Under the combination of policy guidance, subsidy incentives, and proactive services, a group of green factories have stood out, grown and strengthened in Beijing, and the number and scale of leading enterprises and listed companies in the energy conservation and environmental protection industry are leading in the country. From 2010 to 2022, the energy consumption and water consumption per unit of industrial added value in the city decreased by 67% and 74%, respectively.
Turn "green" into gold, making green energy more abundant. Beijing will research and introduce a new round of green and low-carbon policies, focusing on energy-saving and emission reduction in key technological fields such as unmanned driving millisecond level response and artificial intelligence large models, and supporting enterprises and industrial parks with conditions to explore the path to achieving carbon neutrality.
