This afternoon, the public welfare science popularization tour of "Polar Scientific Research Accompanied by Anli" kicked off on the "Xuelong 2" polar exploration ship. 50 members of the public were invited to board the ship, listen to expert speeches, and under the guidance of the first mate on board, visited the scientific research ship.
On the recently concluded World Ocean Day, the topic of "harmonious coexistence between humans and nature" received social attention. In today's tour, Luo Guangfu, Assistant Chief Scientist of the 39th Antarctic Expedition Team of China and Senior Engineer of the China Polar Research Center, who returned from recent inspections, focused on the theme of "protecting the marine ecosystem and promoting harmonious coexistence between humans and nature". He introduced the audience to the rich marine life and conveyed environmental protection concepts. Cai Xuefei, a researcher at Amway Science and Technology Innovation Center and a PhD in Plant Genetics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, explained to the audience the company's carbon reduction strategy and guided the concept of green consumption.
After the tour, led by the first mate Chen Donglin, the audience visited the "Xuelong 2" scientific research vessel. This is China's first independently built polar scientific research icebreaker, and also the world's first polar scientific research icebreaker to use bidirectional bow and stern icebreaking technology.
In 1984, China's first Antarctic scientific expedition team arrived in Antarctica. Over the past 39 years, the scientific research team has braved difficulties and achieved a series of important scientific research results on numerous voyages. Due to the fragile ecological environment of the polar regions, according to the Antarctic Environmental Protection Agreement, the domestic water used for Antarctic exploration must undergo biochemical treatment before it can be discharged into the ocean. Therefore, Antarctica has strict requirements for cleaning products - they must not contain phosphorus and other environmentally harmful components, and must quickly degrade at low temperatures. Due to the consistency between Amway's environmental protection philosophy and China Polar Science and Technology, the environmental characteristics of the product meet the requirements of polar science and technology. Amway joined hands with China Polar Science and Technology in 2002. So far, a series of products such as "Anliyou Life", "Lizhijian", and "Yami" have become "selected products for China's North and South Pole inspections".
In 2003, considering the health needs of the expedition team in harsh natural environments, Amway began providing Nutrilite nutritional food to the Chinese polar expedition team. In 2008, before the 25th Chinese Antarctic scientific expedition set sail, the "Anliyou Living and Environmental Protection House" settled on Xuelong Ship. In 2014 and 2015, Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station in Antarctica also had warm Amway "environmentally friendly cabins". In 2019, with the delivery of China's first independently built polar scientific research icebreaker, the "Xuelong 2", the "Anliyou Living and Environmental Protection House" also settled on the ship.
In order to help more people understand the polar regions and cherish the Earth, Amway has invited polar experts to conduct science popularization tours throughout the country since the beginning of the cooperation. Over the past 20 years, a total of 27 polar experts have given 216 speeches in 76 cities across the country, and over 120000 people have listened to the voices from the polar regions.
