On July 6th, the special exhibition "The Party's Cause is My Struggle Direction - Selected Stories of Scientists Joining the Party" opened at the Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, featuring over 160 photos and more than 20 physical components of literature.

Liberation Daily's Shangguan News reporter found that among 15 typical and representative party members and scientists, including Qian Xuesen, Peng Shilu, Gu Chaohao, Luo Peilin, Huang Xuhua, Wu Mengchao, Chen Ziyuan, Yang Fuqing, Wang Xiji, Cai Qirui, Mao Erke, Wu Wenjun, Yang Jiachi, Gu Songfen, and Xu Guangxian, the most senior party member is undoubtedly Academician Gu Chaohao, the winner of the highest science and technology award in China and a mathematician. He joined the party at the age of 14. In 1940, he joined the Communist Party of China before graduating from junior high school in Wenzhou and became a regular member that year. Later, due to enemy sabotage, he lost contact with the party organization and joined the party again at Zhejiang University in 1948.

Among the 15 people, there are several centenarians. The earliest born was Qian Xuesen, who submitted an application to join the Communist Party and joined the organization three years after returning from overseas. At the exhibition, it can be seen that Qian Xuesen's application to join the Communist Party submitted to the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences is only a few crosses, concise and profound. During his 20 years of studying and working in the United States, Qian Xuesen grew into a renowned scientist who achieved outstanding results in various fields such as aerodynamics, solid mechanics, jet propulsion, rocket development, and aviation engineering. In 1955, after experiencing various unfair treatment and house arrest due to the Qian Xuesen case, he finally embarked on the long-awaited path of returning home.

Back then, Qian Xuesen said, "I plan to do my utmost to help the Chinese people build their own country, so that they can live a dignified and happy life." When asked if he is a Communist Party member, Qian Xuesen replied, "I am not yet qualified to be a Communist Party member! Communists are people with the highest ideals of humanity."

36 years later, on October 14, 1991, the State Council and the Central Military Commission issued an order awarding Qian Xuesen the honorary title of "National Outstanding Contribution Scientist". It is understood that the recipient of this title has only one wealthy scholar named Sen. He said he was "not very excited" about this honor because "there have been three very excited moments in his life"——

According to Qian Xuesen, the first time was due to academic competition for the Chinese people; The second time was because of joining the party; The third time was when I learned that I had been recognized by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China as an outstanding representative of a Communist Party member who has enjoyed high prestige among the masses in the 40 years since liberation. It is not difficult to find that out of the three "excitations" in Qian Xuesen's life, two were related to the party.

Among the 15 scientists exhibited this time, 9 are from Jiaotong University, which can be said to have advanced both in academia and academia. For example, Gu Xuanfen, a recipient of the highest national science and technology award, a master of aircraft design, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, has presented to the public his lecture notes on aircraft design during his time at Jiaotong University, as well as his experimental reports on aircraft design.

For example, Xu Guangxian, also a recipient of the highest national science and technology award and the father of rare earths in China, presented 498 physical and chemical exercises on "Principles of Chemistry" in photocopy form while studying at Jiaotong University from 1943 to 1944.

In addition to them, there is also Academician Huang Xuhua who said, "This life belongs to our country, this life belongs to nuclear submarines.". He is currently 99 years old and joined the Communist Party of China at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1949 at the age of 25. At the exhibition, not only did Huang Xuhua fill out the application registration form for the progressive society, the Dajiang Song Troupe, during his university years, but there was also the score for Huang Xuhua's creation of the "09 Battle Song", which was the code name for China's first generation nuclear powered submarine project.

Coincidentally, the exhibits have become a testament to the original intentions of many great scientists. On September 15, 1956, when Yang Jiachi, who later became a recipient of the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" Merit Medal, entered Shenzhen, his wife Xu Fei filled out the "Registration Form for Returning Overseas Students" on his behalf. The form stated that the reason for returning to China was "returning to China for service" and his work volunteer was "research".

On that day, a seminar on the construction of the National "Qian Xuesen" Scientist Spirit Education Base Alliance was held simultaneously. Representatives from the Propaganda and Culture Department of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Qian Xuesen Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Qian Xuesen's Former Residence in Hangzhou, Qian Xuesen Memorial Hall of Wuhan Institute of Biotechnology, Qian Xuesen Memorial Hall of Haidian Experimental Middle School in Beijing, and Qian Xuesen Library of Xi'an Jiao Tong University attended the seminar.

It is reported that the special exhibition "Selected Stories of Scientists Joining the Party" will be held from July 6th to October 8th this year.
