On the afternoon of the 25th, Yong'an Department Store, which has a history of over 100 years, welcomed a group of special customers -19 elementary school students from Haihua Primary School to the sixth floor of the highest floor, where they learned about the development history of this century old store and experienced the commercial changes on Nanjing Road.
The new semester is coming soon, and the children of Haihua Primary School are welcoming their first lesson here.
The "Green Dolls Love Labor" series of labor education courses is a characteristic curriculum of the school, which has always adhered to the concept of creating a diverse field of labor co education, allowing "green dolls" to gradually form labor beliefs and personality traits of loving labor in practice. In the last week of summer vacation, Haihua Primary School selected 19 outstanding "labor experts" who performed well during the summer vacation to participate in the youth social practice "micro study tour" practice activity jointly organized by Huangpu District Education Bureau and Shanghai Bailian Co., Ltd. Students are searching for the red mark and understanding commercial development on Nanjing Road Commercial Street, and experiencing the spirit of craftsmanship and labor while exploring the changes of the times.
The students came to Yong'an Department Store, a department store located in the center of Nanjing Road Walkway, the "First Commercial Street in China". It was founded in 1918 and, with its unique European architectural style and elegant facade design, fully demonstrates the pursuit of craftsmanship and engineering quality by craftsmen at that time. It was also one of the earliest five major department stores in Shanghai, once an important milestone in the development of Chinese business, witnessing the courage and wisdom of Chinese entrepreneurs. Under the leadership of Ni Wei, the general supervisor of Yong'an Department Store Co., Ltd., the students visited Yong'an Department Store in an orderly manner. From the teacher's explanation, students learned that beneath the elegant appearance of Yong'an Department Store lies a fervent patriotism. After the January 28 Incident, Yong'an Department Store took down a large number of Japanese goods and displayed domestic brands such as Sheng Xifu hats, Longhu brand human pills, Samsung mosquito repellent incense, and Xiongji brand towels, continuously playing anti Japanese songs. Afterwards, everyone arrived at the highest point of Yong'an Department Store - Qiyun Pavilion. Here, everyone learned that on the eve of the liberation in 1949, the first red flag of Nanjing Road was raised from the top of Qiyun Pavilion. The commercial history of Yong'an Department Store not only highlights the Shanghai style culture, but also witnesses the red mark.
Hua Mengfei from Class 5 said, "Before, I only knew that Yong'an Department Store was a symbol of Nanjing Road Commercial Street. I didn't expect there were so many little-known stories in its development history. This century old building is like a museum, and the historical stories inside are worth remembering."
Out of Yong'an Department Store, students walked along the Nanjing Road Walkway to the 100th Goods Commercial Center, where they seriously explored the development history of the first state-owned department store in Shanghai, and felt its spirit of inheritance, development and continuous innovation. Under the guidance of Teacher 100, the students arrived at the 7th floor of the 100th Building and visited the Red Art Exhibition together. The special exhibition, themed "Red and Beautiful Life", is divided into five major sections: "Prologue", "Red Circle", "Born for the People", "Advancing Together with the Country", and "New Era". It not only showcases the history of Shanghai's red revolution and the development of the 100th commodity since the founding of the Communist Party of China, but also reflects a new experience of a better life in the 100th commodity commercial center after the hard work of the workers. Green dolls can not only relive the memories of the red color, but also feel the vibrant atmosphere of the workers of the new era.
Through this unique micro learning activity, "Labor Experts" set off from Nanjing Road Commercial Street to understand the development and changes of Shanghai's commerce, feel the concerted efforts and hard work of the workers, and make tremendous contributions to the development of Shanghai. This makes the city we live in vibrant and charming. Labor creates a better life, and "green dolls" will continue to be diligent in labor, brave in creation, and promote the spirit of labor, continuously injecting new strength and blooming more charm into Shanghai.
