Face to face with the scientific expedition team, Arctic Cloud scientific expedition approaches the Yellow River Station, the first lesson of Xuhui Youth Science and Technology Innovation in the new semester
Go see what the hometown of polar bears really looks like? Will glaciers in the Arctic melt after global warming? Will the life of polar bears be more difficult? Will sea ice melting have an impact on us With these questions in mind, the students followed the live broadcast of "Arctic Cloud Science and Technology" and approached the Yellow River Station in the Arctic of China, embarking on an immersive journey of "Arctic Cloud Science and Technology".
On the first weekend of the new semester, today, teenagers in Xuhui District are starting their first lesson in science and technology innovation - the Arctic Cloud Science Examination. After last year's "Antarctic Cloud Science and Technology Examination", Xuhui Education continues to innovate and launch a series of "Arctic Cloud Science and Technology Examination" science and innovation activities this year. In this one hour online live class, students follow the camera and approach the Arctic Science and Technology Examination. Through video connections with the Yellow River Station science and technology examination team members, they communicate face-to-face with scientists, understand the Arctic, and create a science and technology innovation atmosphere that loves exploration.

Last year, in the "Antarctic Cloud Exploration" series of activities, students approached the Great Wall Station and Zhongshan Station in Antarctica, China. The stories of Antarctic penguins and Antarctic exploration team members left a deep impression on the students. In order to help students better understand the Arctic scientific expedition and the Arctic Yellow River Station, the first lesson of the new semester's science and technology innovation, "Arctic Cloud Scientific Expedition," invited Ma Hongmei, the deputy station director of the Yellow River Station, to share her vision of the Arctic and the stories of the Arctic scientific expedition she has experienced. I studied Environmental Science and Engineering and later joined the China Polar Research Center. It was my first time going to the Yellow River Station and walking into glaciers that I deeply felt, and since then I have been connected to glaciers... In the extremely harsh natural environment of the polar region, Ma Hongmei has been performing scientific research tasks at the Yellow River Station multiple times. This female scientific researcher who adheres to the forefront of scientific research shares the story of Arctic scientific research from a unique perspective.
"How was the Arctic Yellow River Station built? Will polar bears appear during scientific research at the Yellow River Station? How should we deal with it? Do we often see the Northern Lights at the Yellow River Station? When is it easiest to see them?..." During the live broadcast of the connection with the Yellow River Station, Yang Yi, a student from the Third Affiliated Experimental School of Shanghai Normal University, interacted face-to-face with the Arctic scientific research team members with his friends' questions. The entire live broadcast was exciting and varied, not only an extraordinary and wonderful journey, but also leading students to have a "zero distance" contact with the Arctic. Dear friends, what majors do you care about in order to have the opportunity to work in scientific research at the Arctic Yellow River Station in the future? The scientific expedition team members hope that students can cultivate their interests and hobbies from a young age, and engage in scientific research and become scientists when they grow up.

The Arctic Cloud Science Examination · First Class of School is jointly organized by the Education Bureau of Xuhui District, Shanghai and the China Polar Research Center, and organized by the Xuhui District Youth Activity Center in Shanghai. In 2021, the Education Bureau of Xuhui District in Shanghai and the China Polar Research Center signed a contract to strengthen the construction of the Guangqi Youth Innovation Education Base. The aim is to create a platform for cultivating young people's innovative spirit and ability through the "Antarctic Cloud Science Examination" activity in Xuhui District, further expanding students' learning space, and stimulating their potential for scientific and technological innovation that is good at thinking, brave in exploration, and willing to practice. The launch of the "Antarctic Cloud Science Examination" activity has sparked a wave of exploration of Antarctica among young people in Xuhui, and many students are experiencing polar science examination projects for the first time. As an extracurricular education unit, this semester, the Xuhui District Youth Activity Center has once again collaborated with the China Polar Research Center to launch the "Arctic Cloud Science Examination" series of activities. Through various "readily available" science popularization exploration "cloud classrooms" such as online classrooms and live broadcasts, it provides young people with constantly and everywhere learnable science popularization resources, cultivates and enhances their scientific and creative literacy, and plants the seeds of science in their hearts from a young age.
