Drawing spiritual strength from red classics and reciting poetry to enable young people to learn history and remember history
"Salute to the Heroes of the Flame", "Descendants of the Dragon", "Centennial Legend"... Teenagers recite heartwarming stories of red history... Recently, Shanghai Longhua Martyrs Cemetery and Shanghai Youth Activity Center jointly launched the "Remembering the Glorious History and Promoting the Spirit of Heroes" 2023 "Longhua Soul" Red Poetry Recitation Competition, aiming to help young people remember the glorious history and pass on the red genes from generation to generation through poetry recitation.
This competition has been solicited since June, with over 500 young people actively participating in the city, divided into primary school group, secondary school group, and university group. After multiple rounds of competition such as auditions and semi-finals, 45 contestants finally stood out and arrived at the final venue. The contestants vividly narrated touching red historical stories, expressing the deep love of young people for the Party and their motherland. It is worth mentioning that this year's "Longhua Soul" Red Poetry Recitation Competition is also the first time that college students have been included in the competition. College students use the strong voice of youth to convey patriotism and further expand the influence of the event.
Participants from different groups have their own insights into the competition. Huang Wantong, a student from the elementary school group, brought her a poetry recitation of "A Person Who Dots Seeds". This activity touched her a lot: "Before participating in this competition, I read a lot of information about revolutionary martyrs, they were very brave and great. I can also learn from my brothers and sisters, so that I can stand on stage more confidently in the future." Chen Yueqi, a student from the middle school group, recited the poem "Colorful China". Chen Yueqi said, "Participating in this activity not only broadens my horizons and knowledge, but also deeply understands history, studies history, and inherits the red gene." Zhu Xinyi from the college group recited the poem "China under the Moonlight", and before the competition, she also searched for a lot of information. Feeling the greatness and selflessness of the martyrs, "We should better remember the martyrs and inherit the red genes."
"That night, I couldn't fall asleep. I was thinking about them, those famous and even more unknown heroes. Some of them had already crossed countless mountains and rivers, but ultimately couldn't cross the river of death. Some had just joined the anti Japanese war team, but their wings of life were broken by the merciless war..." Wang and Yang from the middle school group recited the poem "Immortal" with deep affection. In their hearts, they had a common name called "Hero"... In this competition, Wang and Yang won the first prize in the middle school group.
The organizer of the event invited Yang Yu, Director of the Propaganda and Education Department of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall, and others to serve as judges. After the award ceremony of the competition, the teenagers participating in the "Dragon Flower Soul" Red Poetry Recitation Competition will usher in a new stage. The organizers will select award-winning contestants and rehearse the original youth stage play "The Place where Peach Blossoms Bloom". The story revolves around the youngest martyr, Ouyang Lian, among the "24 Martyrs of Longhua". It will be interpreted from the perspective of young people, leading them to learn history together, allowing more people to draw spiritual strength from red classics, and compose a new spirit of Longhua's soul.
