Domestic scientists were invited to give lectures to science teachers in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai. Science teachers in primary and secondary schools visited the comprehensive exhibition hall of artificial total synthetic crystalline bovine insulin in the Molecular Cell Science Innovation Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and walked into Zhangjiang High tech Park and Shanghai Chemical Industry Park... Recently, the 2023 summer special training for teachers of science related disciplines in primary and secondary schools started, and more than 300 science teachers were trained for five days. In this 6-year science teacher training model that Shanghai has adhered to, many good practices have also provided reference for national science teacher training.
Since 2018, the Municipal Education Commission and the Municipal Association for Science and Technology have jointly held a series of training sessions for basic education science teachers on "Walking with Masters and Advancing with Frontiers" every year. Academicians and professors have stepped onto the podium to give lectures to science teachers in primary and secondary schools, hoping to pass on the correct scientific views and sow the seeds of scientific exploration in the hearts of students. The series of training has been held for 5 times, with 22 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 265 high-level experts participating in the teaching, and 1784 teachers from physics, chemistry, biology, artificial intelligence and other disciplines participating in the training. In the training, the rigorous and persistent scientific research spirit, patriotism, and sense of responsibility of scientists have deeply influenced the vast number of science teachers. A strong teaching team, abundant curriculum resources, and cutting-edge technological theories have greatly improved the scientific literacy of primary and secondary school teachers, receiving praise from a large number of teachers.

Jointly organizing science teacher training courses with the Municipal Association for Science and Technology has also received support from more professional associations and research institutions. Starting from 2021, the Shanghai Society of Cell Biology has established the Shanghai High School Biology Excellent Teacher Training Assistance Program. Selected teachers not only receive support funds, but also receive guidance and support from all experts and scholars of the society. The Chemistry Education Professional Committee of the Shanghai Chemical and Chemical Society organizes an excellent thesis collection and evaluation activity for middle school chemistry teachers every two years, providing a platform for cross regional teaching experience exchange and publishing educational research results for chemistry teachers. The Li Zhengdao Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University actively provides training resources and invites experts to conduct international cutting-edge physics and astronomy lectures.
The collaboration between science and education to cultivate basic education science teachers has become a characteristic of improving the educational and teaching abilities of basic education teachers in Shanghai. Through joint training, high-quality education resources in the region have been revitalized, and a linkage mechanism of multi-party cooperation has been created to promote the professional development of basic education teachers. Ye Linlin, Deputy Director of the Municipal Education Commission, said that efforts should be made to increase the training of science teachers, laying a talent foundation for cultivating more young people who are cautious about their scientific dreams and have innovative aspirations. This will enable students to understand scientific concepts, learn critical thinking, and possess a scientific attitude of optimism and courage when facing problems.
