At the 25th Shanghai International Biotechnology and Medicine Forum, which opened today, the Medical Equipment and Technology Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine released the 2023 Medical Equipment Brand Influence Ranking. Domestic medical equipment brands such as Lianying and Mindray, as well as international brands such as Siemens and General Electric, are at the forefront of multiple sub sectors, reflecting the trend of domestic medical equipment research and development enterprises catching up with foreign large enterprises.
It is reported that the 2023 Medical Equipment Brand Influence Ranking is the first domestic medical equipment brand influence ranking established by the Medical Equipment and Technology Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, relying on the Shanghai Medical Equipment and Device Management Quality Control Center to establish a satisfaction survey database for equipment management and after-sales service of 120 hospitals in Shanghai over the years. The database objectively and fairly evaluates each brand and sorts the evaluation results.
Li Jizong, Director of the Shanghai Biomedical Technology Development Center, introduced that medical equipment is a high-tech, high demand, and complex technical classification industry field. It is also a professional market mainly targeting medical institutions, with a small single variety capacity, and a global market. The Chinese medical equipment market has a large number of products from developed countries such as the United States, Europe, and Japan. The Shanghai medical equipment market is also a highly internationalized market, especially for high-end medical equipment, which mainly relies on imports. In the face of such a complex professional market, how to judge the technical progressiveness, service quality and brand competitiveness of various products needs the research of a third party organization, which is the original intention of creating the 2023 Medical Equipment Brand Influence Ranking List.
The brand influence evaluation work lasted for 8 months. Through methods such as literature review and case analysis, a team of hospital management experts, industry experts, and enterprise experts was organized. Combining with the characteristics of the medical equipment industry, the evaluation system for medical equipment brand influence was explored and established by drawing on indicators such as brand communication, brand satisfaction, brand reputation, and brand loyalty. The evaluation was mainly conducted from three dimensions: product performance, after-sales service, and product reputation.
The list's data collection and evaluation experts are mainly based in the Shanghai region, leveraging the leading advantages of Shanghai's medical technology in China. "Looking forward to the first release of the ranking list, with the maturity and improvement of the medical equipment evaluation system, it can be promoted to the Yangtze River Delta or a larger scale in the future to enhance the brand influence of medical equipment and promote the high-quality development of the medical equipment industry." Yin Shankai, Dean of the Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai and Executive Dean of the Medical Equipment and Technology Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, said.
The list shows that Chinese brands have gained considerable advantages in multiple fields, such as Lianying ranking first in CT, MR, and nuclear medicine, surpassing internationally renowned brands such as Siemens and General Electric; Mindray ranks first in the field of monitoring products, second in the fields of invasive breathing and surgical light beds, and third in the fields of anesthesia and ultrasound imaging, demonstrating impressive strength. On the list of 12 sub sectors, the top ranked domestic brands account for one-third, which is gratifying.
Feng Xiaoyuan, Chairman of the Shanghai Society of Biomedical Engineering, stated that the development of China's medical equipment industry must go from product imitation to technological innovation, and then to the creation of domestic independent brands. After the release of this ranking, industry insiders and the public can intuitively understand the growth of Chinese brands, understand their gap with international brands, promote the integration of domestic brands with medical institutions, universities, and research institutions in Shanghai, and jointly promote the development of Shanghai's biopharmaceutical industry.
