[Xi Sheng Echo] Guarding Chinese Context, Making Cultural Relics Live China | Chinese Context Makes Cultural Relics
Xi Jinping: it is necessary to excavate the ideological concepts, humanistic spirit, and moral standards of excellent Chinese traditional culture, integrate artistic creativity with Chinese cultural values, and combine Chinese aesthetic spirit with contemporary aesthetic pursuits to activate the vitality of Chinese culture.
Hanzhong, Shaanxi, is located between the majestic Qinling Mountains and the continuous Bashan Mountains, and is the birthplace of Han culture. The flowing Han River flows through the city, nurturing a long and profound Han culture, leaving behind rich historical relics and cultural landscapes for future generations.
As a landmark collection of Hanzhong culture, the Hanzhong Museum has a large collection of cultural relics, showcasing the vastness and profoundness of Chinese culture. The famous cliff carvings of "Thirteen Grades of Shimen" both domestically and internationally are treasures gifted to Hanzhong by history, including 13 giant cliff carvings such as "Shimen", "Shimen Inscription", and "Shimen Ode".
In order to bring cultural relics to life, the Hanzhong Museum has developed many exquisite cultural and creative products while further exploring the essence and stories behind the relics. "A purple clay utensil was made using the Hanzhong City Flower Lotus and the calligraphy of" Thirteen Grades of Shimen "as elements, and a cultural and creative ice cream was made based on the Song Dynasty Wangjiang Tower. These cultural and creative products have been loved by the citizens," said Chang Hong, Deputy Director of the Hanzhong City Museum.
"When using a brush, the tip of the brush always runs in the middle of the stroke. In order to simulate the uneven and cracked effect carved on the stone wall, this brush needs to stand on top of the paper..." In a calligraphy class, Chen Liang, the principal of Hanshang Calligraphy School, was teaching students to write the exquisite cultural relic "Ode to the Stone Gate" in the Hanzhong Museum.
Bringing calligraphy works from the collection of the copying museum into the classroom has become a daily teaching routine in the Hanshang Calligraphy School. Chen Liang said, "Let children learn about Shimen through calligraphy, promote Shimen culture, and feel the vastness, profoundness, and long history of Chinese culture. We want to truly 'bring to life' the cultural relics in museums through this way, and better spread the rich traditional culture through children's calligraphy works."
The Hanzhong Museum has also developed themed courses based on the Thirteen Articles of Shimen, such as school-based courses on "National Treasures Around Us" and a series of courses on "Interesting Traditional Festivals", which have been regularly introduced into major primary and secondary schools. The online digital course "The Autobiography of the Stone" has also attracted more teenagers to fall in love with "The Thirteenth Grade of the Stone Gate" and constantly explore and seek knowledge in museums.
13-year-old Liu Yilin came to Hanzhong to search for the essence of Han culture due to his love for the history of the Han Dynasty. "We have seen the stone gate plank road and also visited places like the Wuhou Temple, which are the origins of Chinese culture. It was very shocking. Through the visit, I also want to tell my classmates about these good cultures and let them come here to see these interesting cultural relics."
"The Wuhou Temple, Zhang Liang Temple, Zhang Qian's Tomb, and Cai Lun's Tomb are all towering ancient trees, with famous trees lingering in the historical and cultural relics of Hanzhong. Many ancient trees are living fossils and cultural relics." Liang Zhongxiao, Honorary Director of the Hanzhong Museum, said that combining green mountains and clear waters with the culture of the two Han and three Kingdoms is the most important feature of the cultural relics of the two Han and three Kingdoms, and also an important cultural symbol of Hanzhong as the most beautiful basin of the Qinba Mountains.
Hanzhong City has formed its own distinctive highlights in the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage. He Kai, Deputy Director of the Cultural and Tourism Bureau of Hanzhong City, told us that looking at the cultural heritage, exploring the beauty of Han origin, and seeing the wisdom of intangible cultural heritage from the "Han" in Hanzhong, with the support of cultural relics, ecology, and intangible cultural heritage, Hanzhong City will continue to depict a moving picture of cultural inheritance and industrial development, blooming the charm of "green circulation, Han style and ancient charm" in Hanzhong, and continuously promoting the "creative transformation and innovative development" of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
