Xi Jinping Meets with Guyanese President Ali Xi Jinping
Xinhua News Agency, Chengdu, July 28. On the morning of July 28, President Xi Jinping met in Chengdu with President Ali of Guyana who came to China to attend the opening ceremony of the 31st Summer Universiade and visit China.
Guyana was the earliest country in the Caribbean region to recognize the One China principle and establish diplomatic relations with New China. Last year, Chongqing and China celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In recent years, Guyana's economy has developed rapidly and its national construction has changed rapidly. China is comprehensively promoting Chinese path to modernization with high-quality development. China and Guinea should be good friends who trust and rely on each other, share opportunities, jointly face challenges, seek cooperation, and promote development, and promote the construction of a closer community with a shared future between China and Guinea.
China is willing to promote the in-depth connection between the the Belt and Road initiative and Guyana's "Low Carbon Development Strategy 2030", so as to improve the level of high-quality cooperation between the two countries in jointly building the "the Belt and Road". Welcome Guyana to participate in the China International Import Expo and promote more high-quality products with Guyana characteristics to enter the Chinese market. China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Guyana, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as energy, mining, finance, agriculture and fishery, and infrastructure construction, and cultivate new growth points such as new energy and green development. Both sides should closely engage in cultural exchanges, facilitate personnel exchanges, and consolidate the foundation of friendship and public opinion between the two countries. China and Guinea share broad common interests and similar positions and propositions in international and regional affairs. Congratulations to Guyana on being elected as a non permanent member of the United Nations Security Council from 2024 to 2025. China supports Guyana in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs, and is willing to work with Guyana to practice true multilateralism, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, food security, energy security, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
China has always supported the unity, self-improvement, development and prosperity of Caribbean countries, and is willing to work together with Canada to build a closer community with a shared future between China and Canada. I hope that the Guinean side will continue to play a positive role in the development of China's relations with Caribbean countries.
Ali stated that the development of Gui China relations is good, and political mutual trust is very strong. The 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Gui and China have been characterized by friendship, cooperation, and mutual support.China has played an important role in the economic and social development of Guyana and the Caribbean region, not only sharing China's experience, but also providing valuable assistance for Guyana and regional countries to develop infrastructure, connectivity, medicine and health. Guyana regards China as a highly trusted partner and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Guyana. We hope to establish close cooperation with China to better address global challenges such as energy, climate change, and food security.The Gui side will continue to actively promote the development of relations between the Caribbean Community and China.
