The Sanxingdui Site is considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries. It represents the cultural landscape and development level of ancient Shu from 4500 to 2900 years ago, and is the most abundant and largest capital site in the Yangtze River Basin during the same period.

In 1986 and 2019, eight sacrificial pits were discovered in Sanxingdui.
