Congo's Foreign Trade Minister Bousa recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters in the capital city of Kinshasa that the booming trade between Congo and China has played an important role in boosting Congo's economic development. The third China Africa Economic and Trade Expo will help the two countries continue to improve and upgrade their trade, and promote the diversified development of trade between the two countries.
The third China Africa Economic and Trade Expo was held in Changsha, Hunan from June 29th to July 2nd, with the theme of "seeking common development and sharing the future". Busa stated that the Congolese government, as the guest of honor of this expo, attaches great importance to it.
"The China Africa Economic and Trade Expo is of great significance to Congo. The two countries are important partners in cooperation with each other. Recently, President Gang made a historic state visit to China, and the leaders of the two countries elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.".
According to data provided by the Chinese Embassy in Congo, in 2022, China's newly added investment in Congo reached 500 million US dollars, and bilateral trade reached 21.8 billion US dollars. Since 2015, the range of goods originating from Congo that enjoy zero tariff treatment for exports to China has expanded to 97%.
Busa said that trade exchanges between Congo and China are flourishing and fruitful, and this expo will provide important opportunities for the two countries to continue strengthening economic and trade cooperation. "We hope to use the Expo to showcase Congo's opportunities and business opportunities to China, and attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in Gangxingye. Developing trade with China is our focus, and we must continuously strengthen economic and trade exchanges between the two countries."
Busa encourages Chinese enterprises to expand investment cooperation with Congo in agriculture, energy, and processing manufacturing industries on the basis of good mining cooperation, to transform newly abundant resources into competitive export products, and to promote diversified development of Congo's economy.
In addition, Busa looks forward to strengthening exchanges and learning from China's experience during the Expo. "China has rich experience in economic development and deserves Congo's serious learning. We look forward to strengthening exchanges in infrastructure connectivity, food supply chains, and African China trade policies."
In 2018, Busa attended the first China International Import Expo and witnessed China's recent development firsthand. He said that China has achieved a globally remarkable economic takeoff through its own development, and its infrastructure is constantly changing. Developing countries, including the Congo, should learn from this. He also expressed his expectation to travel to Shanghai again with many new companies and investors to attend the 6th China International Import Expo.
"I encourage our companies to participate in various trade fairs in China. We must seize every opportunity to strengthen exchanges with China in the field of trade, whether it is imports or exports," Busa said.
