Since the beginning of this year, from spring plowing to summer harvest, various regions have deeply promoted the strategy of storing grain in the land and storing grain in technology, tackling difficulties and stabilizing the area, making every effort to increase yield, continuously consolidating the foundation of food security, and firmly holding the rice bowl in their own hands.

At present, the national summer grain harvest is coming to an end, and the large-scale machine harvesting in the main wheat producing areas has basically come to an end. During this year's "Three Summers" period, more than 600000 combine harvesters and over 800000 agricultural machinery workers across the country worked hard on the front line of wheat harvesting, with mechanized harvesting accounting for over 99%, effectively ensuring summer grain harvest.

In Huanghua City, Hebei Province, 600000 acres of drought alkali wheat have enjoyed a bountiful harvest, with an average yield of 240 kilograms per unit, a 20% increase in total yield compared to last year.

Nowadays, not only on the coast of the Bohai Sea, but also on different types of saline alkali land such as the Northeast Plain and the Yellow River Delta, China has formed eight major systems and more than 40 practical technologies, gradually awakening saline alkali land as a reserve resource for arable land. Entering a new stage of development, how to ensure food security? How to improve grain production capacity?

Since the beginning of this year, various major grain producing regions have successively launched specific measures to stabilize the area, increase production capacity, and shoulder the responsibility of ensuring food security. This year, Hunan Province, a major producer of double cropping rice, has implemented the task of concentrating early rice seedling cultivation on 13.5 million mu in 74 key counties, constructed a number of centralized seedling cultivation facilities, and promoted the simultaneous increase of early rice production quantity and quality. Heilongjiang, the largest grain producing province in China, has established 46 integrated counties to promote the improvement of soybean and corn yield this year, and is fully committed to implementing measures to increase production. In the grain producing city of Meishan, Sichuan, a smart management system based on the Tianfu Constellation, consisting of 10 independently launched remote sensing satellites, has been innovatively developed and put into great use this year. Using a satellite perspective, 9959 field chiefs and grid officers at the four levels of Meishan city, county, township, and village carried out scientific and technological field patrols, achieving full coverage monitoring of farmland throughout the city.

A series of hard and practical measures have been introduced to comprehensively consolidate the foundation of food security. By implementing the policy of storing grain in the land, China will ensure the completion of the construction of 45 million mu of new farmland and the upgrading of 35 million mu of high standard farmland this year. We will make up for the shortcomings in soil improvement, field irrigation and drainage facilities, and coordinate the construction of efficient water-saving and integrated water and fertilizer facilities.

Since the beginning of this year, the central government has continuously invested 5.2 billion yuan in agricultural technology promotion and farmer education and training to implement the principle of storing grain in technology. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has released 158 leading varieties and 164 leading technologies, fully promoting the rapid implementation and effectiveness of large-scale yield improvement.

This year, the central government will continue to raise the minimum purchase price for wheat, implement full coverage of wheat through "one spraying and three prevention" measures, and provide a one-time subsidy of 10 billion yuan to actual grain farmers during the critical period of spring field management. The implementation scope of full cost insurance for rice, wheat, and corn and planting income insurance will be expanded, fully mobilizing the production enthusiasm of farmers. The annual grain planting area will continue to remain above 1.77 billion mu.

During the summer solstice, the fields of hope are still busy, and the national summer planting and management system is advancing. The progress of summer planting has exceeded 70%, and the overall growth of autumn crops in the fields is good. Each major grain producing region is taking strong measures to ensure that the seasons are closely linked and the environment is tightly linked, striving to achieve a bountiful autumn and annual grain harvest.
