The beauty of the West Lake has attracted countless literati to write poems since ancient times. Huang Wenzhong, a master of couplets, once wrote a wonderful couplet for "West Lake and the World Scenery" - the water, water, mountains and mountains are bright and beautiful everywhere, sunny and rainy, always curious. Eight years ago, at the G20 Hangzhou Summit, President Xi Jinping extracted eight words from this couplet to introduce the scenery of West Lake to the world.
“The mountains are beautiful, the weather is sunny and the rain is strange, it is steeped in the charm of the south of the Yangtze River and embodies the ingenuity of generations.”
If the dredging and management of past dynasties have allowed the unique ancient charm of West Lake to be preserved to this day, then the West Lake Comprehensive Protection Project started in 2002 has given West Lake a new look. This year is Xi Jinping’s first year taking office in Zhejiang. The first stop he chose to inspect Hangzhou was West Lake. Since then, Comrade Xi Jinping has elevated the protection and development of West Lake to the level of a "World Cultural Heritage" and proposed the construction of a West Lake Museum. He once said: "The historical and cultural city is the soul of Hangzhou, and the West Lake is the lifeline of Hangzhou."
On September 23, 2023, on the occasion of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, President Xi Jinping once again introduced the landscape here to the world.
"For thousands of years, Hangzhou has been world-renowned for its 'beautiful mountains and rivers and the diversity of people's settlements'. It was hailed by Marco Polo as 'the most beautiful and luxurious celestial city in the world'."
The lakes and mountains are always there, and the love is forever. The thousand-year elegance of the West Lake is transformed into the scenery of the four seasons and is hidden in the pavilions and pavilions. And the beautiful and touching legend continues to be written.
