Journey | To Establish New China Cadres | History | Journey
Editor's note
The transfer of retired military cadres to the government for resettlement management is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission. The vast number of retired military cadres have made important contributions to the cause of revolution, construction, and reform led by the party, and are precious wealth of the party, the country, and the army. Although time has passed, the people will not forget the meritorious deeds of the old comrades. Although they are old, the memories of the old comrades are still fresh and surging. In order to review the glorious history and inherit the red gene, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs organized the creation of a feature film on the oral history of retired military cadres-"Red Memory".
Introduction to the second episode "In order to create a new China"
The War of Liberation was a decisive battle concerning China's future and destiny. Guo Zhengrong, who was on the sickbed, was once a battle hero who frightened the enemy. He charged bravely on the Huaihai battlefield and held on for 6 days and 5 nights with the sacrifice of half of his comrades. In the pursuit and annihilation war in Yangjiang, Guangdong, Guo Zhengrong served as the squad leader of the assault squad and rushed into the enemy's division headquarters, setting a record of winning the enemy's division with one squad. Wuhan An fought from Shandong to Shanghai, lost one comrade-in-arms, and won one victory after another. He was covered with scars and witnessed the prosperity of the motherland today. Zhang Wentao and Zhang Dianwen experienced the baptism of the Liaoshen campaign together, and also forged a deep friendship of comrades in arms. In their letters and exchanges in their later years, they recalled the fierce battle against Shenyang Dongdaying, and also described the heroic chapter of the people's army more than 70 years ago to create a new China. In this episode, following the narration of Guo Zhengrong, Wuhan An and Zhang Wentao, we trace back the red memory of the war of liberation.
