International observation: The US and the West hype up the "Global South" that cannot separate China from developing countries | hype | global
The concept of "Global South", which has been dormant for many years, has recently attracted attention. European leaders have expressed their desire to establish new partnerships with the "global South"; The Munich Security Conference set up a special session for discussion, emphasizing that the West should strive for the "global south"; This year's G7 Hiroshima Summit stated strengthening relations with the "Global South"... For a while, countries from the "Global South" became guests of honor for the United States and the West. In fact, the essence of the hype and manipulation of the concept of "global South" by the United States and the West is still the culture of small circles, politicizing and instrumentalizing the concept of "global South", with the intention of kicking China out of the ranks of developing countries and using this opportunity to lure developing countries to marginalize China, serving their strategic needs of comprehensively containing China. China has always been a member of the "Global South" family, and the hype between the United States and the West about the "Global South" cannot separate China's relationship with emerging markets and developing countries.
Since the beginning of this year, especially since the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the United States and the West have further politicized and concretized the concept of "global South", strengthened their control and discourse power over "global South" affairs, infiltrated and attracted "global South" countries, and attempted to turn "global South" countries into a battleground in international politics and a tool for major power competition and geopolitical games.
On June 24, the G7 countries, together with Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye and Ukraine, held the "Peace Conference" in Copenhagen; The United States hypes up Sri Lanka's "debt trap" recklessly, disrupting relations between China, Sri Lanka, and developing countries; The United States has increased its assistance and investment in the Indo Pacific region with India as its fulcrum, and prioritizes helping India and other parties increase their participation in international affairs and deepen their involvement in the affairs of "southern countries" under the pretext of promoting Security Council reform; Japan plans to hold a special summit between Japan and ASEAN in December 2023 to enrich bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation with ASEAN; Since the reconciliation of the Shai century, the United States has been involved in frequent actions in the Middle East region, aiming to reshape its influence in the region; Around the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the developing countries were attracted to join the so-called "anti war camp" led by the West
The United States and the West deliberately exclude China from the "global south", instrumentalize, camp, and weaponize this concept, in order to support and assist developing countries, and carry out containment and suppression of China; Utilizing the advantages of international development cooperation rules, agenda setting, and discourse dominance, we aim to curb and regulate the assimilation of the "global south" and attempt to disrupt China's global partnership network; Encourage some emerging economies and developing powers to use China as a "hypothetical enemy", attempting to use the "global south" as bait, and ultimately achieve the plan of "splitting the south"; Infiltrate and lure "southern countries" towards the so-called "global governance framework" led by the West.
This "Global South" is not that "Global South". The Global South is a collection of emerging market countries and developing countries. The "global southern" countries referred to by the United States and the West are not entirely the "southern countries" that have been anti colonial, anti hegemonic, and pursuing independent development since World War II, nor are they the current "global southern" countries that are non Western, anti intervention, and seeking development. Instead, they are attempting to create a "global southern" country that conforms to the Western ideal group.
China has previously been recognized as a part and important member of the "global south". In the 2004 initiative of the United Nations Development Programme, China was explicitly listed as a "global southern" country. In recent years, China's relations with countries from the "global south" have continued and deepened. For example, Cuba will host the "Group of 77 and China" Havana Summit next month. Developing countries have always been China's background and positioning. As Weng Shijie, the chairman of the Malaysian Asia Pacific "the Belt and Road" Joint Policing Conference, said a few days ago, the "the Belt and Road" initiative and the three major global initiatives proposed by China have provided new solutions for global governance and new opportunities for the "Global South" countries to participate in international affairs.
Independence and autonomy are the political background of the "Global South", development and revitalization are the historical mission of the "Global South", and justice is the common proposition of the "Global South". China will always be a member of the "big family" of developing countries. As a natural member of the "Global South", China will join hands with developing countries to firmly safeguard its own development interests and resolutely eliminate any attempts and tricks to divide developing countries.
