CCTV News Client News: In the first half of this year, against the backdrop of significant external demand pressure on exports, China's foreign trade withstood the pressure, stabilized its scale, improved its quality, and presented resilience and new qualities.
Recently, approximately 3000 containers of Chinese made textiles, glass products, machinery and other goods were shipped to emerging markets such as Mexico, Colombia, and Peru through the newly opened South American shipping route at Qingdao Port in Shandong.
The route continues to increase, and China now has as many as 214 trading partners. In the first half of this year, China's total foreign trade exceeded 20 trillion yuan, a record high in scale. ASEAN continued to become China's largest trading partner, and China's imports and exports to countries along the "the Belt and Road" achieved near double-digit growth.
Although the growth of global goods volume has slowed down, China's foreign trade entities are actively exploring new demands in the global market. According to cross-border e-commerce data, summer home appliances produced in Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Ningbo have been selling well worldwide this year, with energy-saving and environmentally friendly products such as energy storage fans and charging stations particularly favored by overseas buyers. In the first half of this year, China's exports of mechanical and electrical products accounted for nearly 60% of the total export value.
Private enterprises are becoming the main force in the development of China's foreign trade. In the first half of this year, private enterprises accounted for 52.7% of China's total import and export value, an increase of 3.3 percentage points year-on-year. The "new three types" of foreign trade, namely electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells, have accelerated their export to the sea, with a total export growth of 61.6%. New formats and models are flourishing, with over 100000 cross-border e-commerce entities in China. In the first half of the year, cross-border e-commerce imports and exports increased by 16% year-on-year.
