How to build an electric tower in the desert? China's first "Sagehuang" wind and solar power base external transmission ultra-high voltage project has started construction in Ningxia | Project | Sagehuang
Yesterday, the construction of Ningxia ± 800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project, China's first wind and photovoltaic base for external power transmission in desert, Gobi, and desert areas, began.
Promote the grid connection and consumption of clean electricity in the "Sha Ge Huang" region
The total investment scale of the "Ningdian to Hunan" project is about 100 billion yuan. It starts from Zhongwei in Ningxia and passes through five provinces and one city, including Gansu, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Hubei, and Hunan. The total length of the line is 1634 kilometers. The project mainly transports green and clean electricity produced by clean energy such as solar and wind energy in desert, Gobi, and desert areas. It has become an innovative project for Ningxia to achieve the "dual carbon" goal, achieve high proportion and stable transmission of new energy, and a demonstration project to build a new power system and achieve large-scale optimization of new energy allocation.
It is understood that the total installed capacity of supporting power sources for the "Ningdian to Hunan" project is 17.64 million kilowatts, which will promote the external transmission capacity of the Ningxia power grid from 14 million kilowatts to 22 million kilowatts, and the installed capacity of new energy will exceed 50 million kilowatts, greatly promoting the on-site consumption and large-scale optimization of new energy allocation in Ningxia, fundamentally solving the problem of grid connected consumption of new energy in the central and southern regions of Ningxia. After the project is put into operation, it will increase the electricity consumption of Hunan by 36-40 billion kilowatt hours annually.
Ecological management of "green protection lines" makes electric towers more secure
The "Ningdian to Hunan" project is the first major power channel in China that focuses on developing desert photovoltaics and transmitting new energy. So, what difficulties did the construction party encounter in the early planning and current construction process? How was it resolved?
The "Ningdian to Hunan" project has a total length of 1634 kilometers, with 261 kilometers in the Ningxia section. 68% of the lines pass through deserts, Gobi, and desert terrain, which means that some power towers need to be built in the "Sago Desert" area. The sparse vegetation and complex terrain in the area, combined with the invasion of sandstorms, pose a risk of tower collapse and threaten the safe and stable operation of transmission lines.
To solve this problem, the construction party drew on past experience in ultra-high voltage operation and maintenance management and launched the "Green Protection Line" plan.
Zhang Xiaobo, a technician from the Science and Technology Innovation Center of State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Ultra High Voltage Company: We consulted some forestry and sand control experts and transformed the sand dunes into fixed or semi fixed sand areas through grass grids. At the same time, we sowed some grass seeds in the grass grids and planted white lime seedlings and other plants, slowly restoring the vegetation environment of the channel.
"New energy+energy storage" ensures stable grid connected electricity
In addition, the engineering construction team also explores the "new energy+energy storage" technology to solve the problem of unstable new energy technology.
Zhang Shaobin, Deputy Director of the Customer Service Center of State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Zhongwei Power Supply Company: The size of wind power determines the efficiency of power generation. New energy generation is greatly affected by the natural environment, and its intermittency and volatility also pose higher requirements for the power grid.
In order to grasp the laws of new energy power generation, the Ningxia power department has increased scientific and technological research, developed and established an early warning system, and used artificial intelligence to process and analyze massive data to monitor the operation of new energy power in real time.
At the same time, in order to ensure the stable transmission of new energy electricity, Ningxia's power system continues to tackle the "new energy+energy storage" technology, providing strong support for engineering construction.
Zhang Huiling, Deputy Director of the Control Center of State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Co., Ltd.: Energy storage technology is actually like a power bank, which can store excess electrical energy and achieve fast charging and discharging when needed by the power grid. When it is difficult to consume new energy, we arrange for energy storage and charging; Discharge when there is insufficient power.
