The meeting was chaired by South African President Ramaphosa, attended by Brazilian President Lula, Indian Prime Minister Modi, Russian President Putin, and over 60 leaders or representatives of African countries and other emerging markets and developing countries, as well as heads of international and regional organizations such as UN Secretary General Guterres and New Development Bank President Rousseff.
This year is the mid-term evaluation year of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Currently, the implementation of most sustainable development goals is slow and worrying. The global development cause is facing enormous challenges. The international community should prioritize the interests of the world and the hearts of the people, and push development issues back to the core of the international agenda. To enhance the representation and voice of developing countries in global governance, and support them in achieving better development. We must adhere to true multilateralism, build a global development partnership, and create a secure and stable international environment for common development.
I propose the Global Development Initiative to focus the world on development and provide assistance in implementing the sustainable development agenda. Last year, China held the first Global Development High Level Dialogue and launched a series of development cooperation measures, achieving gratifying progress. We insist on prioritizing development and increasing resource investment. We have established a Global Development and South South Cooperation Fund, and Chinese financial institutions are about to launch special funds specifically for implementing global development initiatives. We adhere to an action oriented approach and deepen practical cooperation. More than 200 collaborative projects have blossomed and yielded results, and cooperation mechanisms in areas such as poverty reduction, education, and health are constantly expanding. We adhere to the drive for innovation and enhance the driving force of development. Focus on key areas such as green development, new industrialization, and digital economy, promote the construction of new industrial revolution partnerships, and assist in high-quality development. We have persisted in overcoming difficulties together and improved our development resilience. Launch the China FAO South South Cooperation Trust Fund to provide food aid to many countries, share agricultural technology knowledge, initiate a global clean energy partnership, and help achieve energy security.
In the next stage, China will engage in more cooperation with African countries to support Africa in enhancing its independent development capabilities, including providing complete sets of satellite surveying and mapping data products, implementing the "Smart Customs" partnership plan, collaborating with UNESCO to carry out the "Global Development Initiative to Support Africa's Future" initiative, and actively supporting Africa in achieving sustainable development. Let us strengthen our confidence, work together to build a development community, and not let any country fall behind in the process of world modernization.
