Development carries the people's aspirations for a better life, is the top priority for developing countries, and is also an eternal theme of human society. This year is the mid-term evaluation year of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Currently, the implementation of most sustainable development goals is slow and worrying. The global development cause is facing enormous challenges.

The international community should prioritize the interests of the world and the hearts of the people, and push development issues back to the core of the international agenda. To enhance the representation and voice of developing countries in global governance, and support them in achieving better development. We must adhere to true multilateralism, build a global development partnership, and create a secure and stable international environment for common development.

China has always breathed and shared a common destiny with developing countries. It has been, is, and will always be a member of developing countries! I propose the Global Development Initiative to focus the world on development and provide assistance in implementing the sustainable development agenda. Last year, China held the first Global Development High Level Dialogue and launched a series of development cooperation measures, achieving gratifying progress.

China has established a global development and South South cooperation fund with a total amount of 4 billion US dollars, and Chinese financial institutions are about to launch a special fund of 10 billion US dollars specifically for implementing global development initiatives.

We have launched the China FAO South South Cooperation Trust Fund to implement special actions to promote food production, provide food aid to many countries, and share agricultural technology knowledge. We initiate a global clean energy partnership to help achieve energy security.

China is a reliable friend of Africa, providing significant development assistance to Africa over the past decade, participating in the construction of over 6000 kilometers of railways, over 6000 kilometers of roads, and over 80 large-scale power facilities. In the next stage, China will engage in more cooperation with African countries to support Africa in enhancing its capacity for independent development.
