In 2022, Shanghai added 1073 new first stores of various types, ranking first in scale and quality among cities in China. Since the launch of the "Shanghai Global New Product Launch Season" on May 7, 2023, within a month, Shanghai has held more than 320 theme day events for domestic and foreign brands, with 156 first and flagship stores competing in the consumer market. In order to encourage and guide the innovative development of the consumer market, with the strong support of the Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Statistics, this year the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce focuses on rewarding and supporting market entities that achieve positive growth in annual retail and catering enterprise retail sales. At the same time, it has launched the first consumer market innovation development incentive project support policy, using "real gold and silver" to stimulate the innovative vitality of the consumer market.
At the conference, 36 enterprises including L'Oreal Co., Ltd. were selected for the 2022 Consumer Market Innovation and Development Award Project in Shanghai International Consumer Center City Construction, and included in the scope of financial support.
Building an international consumer center city cannot be achieved without strong financial support. At the conference, China UnionPay announced that it will collaborate with 12 banks including Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank, Guangfa Bank, Everbright Bank, Industrial Bank, Huaxia Bank, Shanghai Bank, and Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank to jointly launch over 20 million yuan of special funds and the first batch of 1 billion yuan of "enterprise loan" credit lines. Financial institutions will collaborate with the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce to support policies and, in accordance with the principle of "one enterprise, one plan", provide proportional support for innovative projects in the consumer market, further reduce financing costs for enterprises, and help them accelerate the creation of new scenarios and new supplies for trendy consumption.
The conference also released a list of popular first stores and creative first launch activities for the 2023 Shanghai Global New Product Launch Season, including international/local brand first stores and international/local brand creative first launch activities, providing consumers with a more reliable shopping basis. 10 international brand popular first stores, including the first store at the New York Bego Museum in China, 10 local brand popular first stores, including the first store at the Yuanqi Forest LIVE HOUSE in China, 10 international brand creative debut events, including the Gucci Cosmos "Universal Gucci" collection exhibition, and 10 local brand creative debut events, including the GEREL GILVAA WildestDream limited time installation art exhibition.
