Recently, the construction of the Yangtze River Delta railway has continued to accelerate, with more than 20 construction projects rushing to meet the schedule and advancing in an orderly manner according to the scheduled time node. Nearly a thousand construction sites are in a hot construction scene.
The Yangtze River Delta region has always been a hot spot for railway construction in China. Data shows that in the ten years since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Yangtze River Delta Railway has completed a total of 753.42 billion yuan in infrastructure investment and 24.83 billion yuan in technological transformation investment; 5945.4 kilometers of new lines have been opened, including 4799.6 kilometers of high-speed rail, which is the period with the largest investment and the most new lines opened in history.
As of the end of 2022, the operating mileage of the Yangtze River Delta railway reached 13749.7 kilometers, including 6704.4 kilometers of high-speed rail, accounting for one sixth of the country's total, equivalent to the world's second ranked Japan and third ranked Spain's total high-speed rail mileage. The "Yangtze River Delta on the track" is accelerating with a rumble.
Experts believe that the Yangtze River Delta railway network, especially the high-speed rail network, has become one of the iconic achievements of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. The Yangtze River Delta railway map, which is woven into a network, interconnected, and continuously expanding, has enabled all prefecture level cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, except Zhoushan, to achieve "city to city high-speed trains", and high-speed trains to operate in a public transportation system. The dream of a "one hour to three hour living circle" has become a reality, and the "urbanization" effect continues to expand, greatly enhancing the people's sense of gain, happiness, and security, providing important support and guarantee for promoting high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
After the full opening of the Lianzhen high-speed railway connecting Lianyungang and Zhenjiang in Huai'an, Jiangsu, the spatial and temporal distance between Huai'an and surrounding cities has been further narrowed, effectively expanding the Huai'an mid to long distance tourism market. Zhao Yankao, Director of the Industry and Technology Department of the Huai'an Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, introduced that in 2022, even though affected by the epidemic, Huai'an City still achieved a total tourism revenue of 28.085 billion yuan, an increase of 5.24% compared to 2020; Throughout the year, we received 24.9355 million domestic and foreign tourists, an increase of 13.08% compared to 2020. Most tourists come from other cities within the province, accounting for over 60%, while tourists from outside the province mainly come from surrounding provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta. About 15% of tourists take high-speed trains.
In Huzhou, Zhejiang, less than a 10 minute drive from Huzhou Station, the prototype of Xisai Science Valley, which gathers a group of scientific research platforms and innovative talents, is taking shape. This is becoming an important node for Huzhou to integrate into the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor of the Yangtze River Delta. At present, there are 6 laboratories gathered in the Science Valley. "In September 2022, with the opening of the Huhang section of the Hehang high-speed railway and the opening of Hangzhou West Station, the work and life of researchers in Zhejiang University's laboratory will become 'urban'." Li Jianwei, Deputy General Manager of Huzhou Science and Technology Development Group Co., Ltd., said, "This year we plan to recruit six more laboratories, and the number of PhDs who will settle in at that time will reach about 150. By 2024, the opening of the Shanghai Suzhou Lake railway will make it more convenient for personnel to travel between Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places."
During this year's May Day holiday, the Yangtze River Delta railway transported over 26.6 million passengers in 8 days, with a daily average of over 3.3 million passengers. On May 1st, 3.711 million passengers were sent, setting a new record for the daily passenger volume of China Railway Shanghai Group. In addition, from January to May this year, the Yangtze River Delta Railway sent over 300 million passengers, an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2019, making a positive contribution to expanding domestic demand and stabilizing growth.
According to the "14th Five Year Plan" for the development of the Yangtze River Delta Railway, by 2025, the "Yangtze River Delta on the track" will be basically completed, with nearly 16700 kilometers of railway operating mileage in the Yangtze River Delta, including nearly 9200 kilometers of high-speed rail. The main channel of the "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" high-speed rail network in China, all within the jurisdiction of Shanghai Bureau Group Company, will be connected, and the microcirculation of the branch line network will be more smooth. The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration will build a "multi triangle and radial" intercity railway network with Shanghai as the center, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei as the sub center, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Xuzhou, Mount Huangshan and other cities as the nodes, and intercity railway as the channel.
By 2023, the Yangtze River Delta Railway will have 5 projects ready for opening, including the Shanghai Nanjing Yangtze River High Speed Railway, the Hangzhou Changsha High Speed Railway Huangchang Section, the Jinhua Ningbo Railway, the Ningbo Railway Hub Zhuangqiao Ningbo Section 3-4 Line, and the Hefei Paihegang Railway Logistics Base. It is planned to start construction on 5 projects, including the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Locomotive Yard Connection Line and the Beilun Branch Double Line, and steadily promote the construction of 22 key continuation projects, including the Shanghai Suzhou Lake Railway and the Hangzhou Wenzhou High Speed Railway; The annual construction investment plan will reach over 90 billion yuan and continue to maintain a high level of operation.
