The ultimate tool for relieving heat may not necessarily be a typhoon, endure two more days of 37 ℃+scorching heat! Shanghai's consecutive "high fever" is expected to alleviate orange | high temperature | Shanghai
On July 12th, Shanghai continued to heat up in a high-profile manner. Did you feel the hot and spicy enthusiasm?
Following the release of the high-temperature orange warning signal on July 11th, Shanghai once again issued the high-temperature orange warning on July 12th. In the afternoon, the highest temperature in most parts of the city was around 38 ℃, and the highest temperature at Xujiahui Station was fixed at 38.7 ℃. This is the ninth hot day of the year and the second "scorching heat" day.
Today, Shanghai is mainly experiencing cloudy weather. The temperature is not low in the morning, with the lowest temperature around 29 ℃ and the expected highest temperature still reaching 37 to 38 ℃, making it another scorching day. The Shanghai Meteorological Department reminds everyone to minimize going out between 10 and 16 o'clock, take precautions when going out, and be cautious of heatstroke! Due to rapid warming and unstable energy accumulation, there may be short-term showers or thunderstorms in some areas in the afternoon.
This Friday, the highest temperature in Shanghai is expected to reach 38 ℃ again. After the onset of the plum blossom season, Shencheng experienced a high fever for several days. Meiyu has run away, who will suppress the high temperature? Is the 4th typhoon developing this year, and is it the key to relieving the heat in the south?

Typhoons are indeed a powerful tool to cool down, but they were a bit lazy in the first half of this year. According to the annual average statistics of the China Meteorological Administration, there were about 4.1 typhoons generated in the northwest Pacific and South China Sea from January to June, and 3.7 typhoons generated in July. So far this year, only three typhoons have been generated, which is less than the same period in previous years.
Not only that, on average, late June to early July is also the season when early typhoons gather the most. As of now this year, there have been no typhoons landing in China.
Why is it entering the typhoon season when the typhoon is nowhere to be seen? Meteorological experts explain that the low generation of typhoons is mainly due to the influence of subtropical high pressure. The source areas of typhoons in the Northwest Pacific and South China Sea are controlled by subtropical high pressure, which suppresses convective activity and lacks the necessary conditions for typhoon generation.
According to the forecast, currently there is a development of a tropical low value system near the Philippines, and there are certain variables whether it can become a new typhoon. The generated path forecasts are also diverse.

Instead of relying on typhoons to cool down in Shanghai, it is better to be optimistic about the subtropical high pressure. Starting from Saturday, it is expected that the subtropical high pressure will weaken eastward, and the high temperature weather in Shanghai is expected to ease. The eastward retreat of the subtropical high pressure also provides opportunities for weak cold air, making the weather less stable with occasional showers or thunderstorms. Therefore, next week we need to be prepared with both heatstroke and rain prevention measures.
