Benefiting from consumption incentives such as the tourism boom and nightlife festivals, Shanghai's late night snack revenue ranks first in the country.
In 2019, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Circulation and Promoting Commercial Consumption", proposing to activate nighttime commerce and markets. In the past four years, the night economy has developed rapidly, and nighttime consumption has accounted for more than half of the entire day in many cities. Among them, eating and drinking at night is still the mainstream, accounting for over 48%.
Night snack stalls usually refer to the time period from 8pm to 4am, and are an important indicator of the night economy. Data shows that the number of merchants operating until midnight snack stalls this year has increased by 15% year-on-year, and the average operating hours have been extended by 10%, showing a rapid upward trend. According to data from online commercial banks, since the beginning of this year, Shanghai has not only ranked first in the scale of night snack business in the country, but also ranked second in the growth rate of night snack sales in the country, second only to Lijiang, Yunnan.
