Since 2016, Shanghai has organized professional third-party mobile communication network quality monitoring and evaluation every year. This year's evaluation is based on user perception, and the plan has been officially released.
According to the Shanghai Radio Detection Industry Alliance, this year's evaluation will prioritize 5G networks in network selection; The evaluation site covers a total of 1119 locations in 16 districts, mainly focusing on 7 fixed scenarios such as hospitals, transportation hubs, subway lines, shopping malls and commercial districts, urban expressways, residential areas, and 3+1 centers, as well as 3 dynamic scenarios such as universities, parks, and underground parking lots in residential communities; The testing methods include mobility testing and fixed-point dialing testing; The testing indicators focus on inclusiveness and experience, rather than network extremum capability; The testing schedule takes into account both busy and idle hours.
It is worth noting that among the several major testing indicators, SMS related indicators have been removed this year and widely used short video related indicators have been added, such as success rate of short video playback and first screen delay of short video playback. In the testing scenario, the "top students" large parks that have been tested in previous years will be removed, and urban expressways such as Hongqiao Airport Expressway, Inner Ring Elevated Road, North South Elevated Road, and North Cross Passage will be added.
The Information Infrastructure Management Office of the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology revealed that Shanghai has taken the lead in building a "dual gigabit broadband city" in the country, with over 65000 5G base stations built and the construction density ranking first in the country.
However, there are still signal blind spots in Shanghai. After investigation, it has been found that there are still thousands of underground parking lots in residential communities that have not achieved mobile phone signal coverage, affecting citizens to make emergency phone calls in underground parking lots, as well as the use of intelligent connected vehicle applications and intelligent charging stations. To eliminate "underground disconnection", the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology has included the "Mobile Communication Network Coverage Project for Underground Garages in Residential Communities" as a private practical project, striving to complete the coverage of mobile communication networks for 1000 underground garages in residential communities this year. As of the end of April, 432 residential communities have started construction and 223 residential communities have been completed.
This year's mobile communication user perception evaluation also included the underground garage in the residential area as an important scenario. The test indicators include network coverage, voice connection rate, voice drop rate and code scanning success rate. Five locations in the southeast, northwest and northwest of each garage will be selected. If there is a code scanning area or other points with mobile Internet applications, two more points will be sampled.
All evaluations are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
