The spatial "scraps" have been transformed in a fancy way, and a complex in Shanghai has released 6 pocket park elements | gardens | pockets
At the end of June, the only pedestrian overpass along the Huangpu River, the Dongjiadu Flower Bridge, will be completed and opened to the public. Huaqiao not only has simple traffic functions, but also serves as a "landscape balcony" and "public reception hall.". It is just one of the six pocket parks released by the South Bund super large complex.
Shanghai's urban space is scarce, and it is not easy to encounter greenery at the corner. How can a project release 6 pocket parks and how can they be creatively crafted?
In the Dongjiadu area, the rising Green Bund Center is a new landmark of the South Bund Financial Agglomeration Zone. Six pocket parks are interspersed within the financial industry space, with a total area of nearly 40000 square meters. They are Guild Garden, Herb Garden, Church Garden, Health Garden, Central Garden, and Huaqiao Park.
"We have integrated 'pocket parks' into the design of complex projects and surrounding supporting facilities, making different features tailored to different locations." The relevant person in charge of the Green Bund Center said that in Shanghai, where every inch of land is precious, to break through hard constraints such as land, population, and environment to create pocket parks, more refined design and management thinking is needed.
During the construction process of the central area of the Green Bund, a city level cultural and cultural heritage unit merchant ship club with a history of over 300 years has been preserved, as well as a 180 year old Dongjiadu Catholic Church. During the renovation of the old building, two pocket parks combined with historical buildings emerged.
Taking the Guild Garden as an example, it is distributed on the north and south sides of the Merchant Shipping Guild Hall, integrating the ancient and beautiful style of Chinese gardens, continuing the architectural style and historical heritage of the Merchant Shipping Guild Hall. At present, the guild garden full of Chinese garden charm has been opened to the public, becoming an important "check-in spot" for nearby residents and white-collar workers to rest and relax.
The Dongjiadu Flower Bridge, which is about to open soon, is a three-dimensional and multi-dimensional slow traffic system. It not only connects the urban landscape and capital industry, but also integrates a multifunctional "pocket park", using a combination model of shaped plants, ornamental grass, and flower borders, highlighting the theme of "flowers". The landscape follows an eight shaped aerial corridor, crossing Zhongshan South Road and Outer Road from the hinterland of Dongjiadu Old City, and directly reaching the South Bund waterfront space.
Baicao Garden and Health Garden integrate different landscape elements, connecting the public green space of the entire Bund center. Among them, Baicaoyuan is a historical and cultural green corridor in the north and south, while the Health Garden has added a green running track for people to exercise.
The Central Garden is the largest planned building with an area of approximately 13000 square meters, containing an open sunken plaza and supporting service buildings. As a super large public green space in the plot, it integrates functions such as leisure, sightseeing, and centralized evacuation. That is to say, it also has another identity - the South Bund's super large tourist transfer and evacuation area. The park is designed in the form of sparse forests and grasslands, maximizing the space and giving people a sense of openness and comfort.
At present, the Guild Garden, Hundred Grass Garden, and Church Garden have all been officially opened to the public. The reporter learned from Greenland Group that Huaqiao Park and Health Garden will be built and opened gradually within 2023. The larger central garden is also accelerating construction and will be opened to citizens and tourists as soon as possible.
