Small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises have performed outstandingly, and Shanghai has taken the lead in RCEP regional cooperation | Shanghai | Regional Cooperation
On June 2nd, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement officially came into effect for the Philippines. This marks the full implementation of RCEP for 15 member countries, and the world's largest free trade zone will enter a new stage of full implementation. As the world's largest trading port city, Shanghai has taken the lead in regional cooperation with RCEP.
Firstly, as an "ID card" that enjoys the benefits of RCEP policies, the RCEP certificate of origin is highly sought after by a large number of foreign trade enterprises in Shanghai. The reporter recently learned from the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, one of the institutions responsible for issuing RCEP certificates of origin, that in the first half of 2023, they issued a total of 2122 RCEP certificates of origin, a year-on-year increase of 72.80%; The visa amount is 114 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 97.53%, and it is expected to enjoy a tariff reduction of 856700 US dollars from the importing country, effectively enhancing the international competitiveness of the product.
Secondly, the recent "Regional Research Report on the Export Free Trade Agreement for Small and Medium sized Enterprises in Shanghai in the First Half of 2023" jointly released by the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Keju Technology, XTransfer and other institutions shows that the number of Shanghai small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises exporting to RCEP countries in the first half of 2023 increased by 34% compared to the same period last year. Among them, Shanghai's small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises exporting to the RCEP region for the first time increased by 19.8% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 28%. This indicates that more and more small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises in Shanghai are developing new buyers for RCEP regional countries.
In the first half of 2023, Shanghai's small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises accounted for 19% of the total amount of payments received from exports to the RCEP region, an increase of 4 percentage points compared to the same period last year; The average transaction frequency of export enterprises increased by 39.5% compared to the same period last year, indicating that trade between enterprises and RCEP regional countries has become more active.
According to reports from the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, as the main force for the high-quality promotion and implementation of RCEP, they are currently optimizing and upgrading the "Free Trade Agreement Comprehensive Utilization Service Platform" and "Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade Origin Visa Data Monitoring" windows to digitize and promote the realization of trade intelligence and convenience, continuously improving the competitiveness of foreign trade enterprises in Shanghai's "going out" development.
