Recently, some residents on Longcao Road have been plagued by cooking fumes from the ground floor restaurants. Party members and cadres of the Shanghai Ecological Environment Bureau have conducted on-site research and law enforcement, urging four street side shops operating in commercial and residential complex podiums to rectify or transform their business models. The smile has returned to the faces of residents.
Recently, the Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau has solidly carried out theme education, adhering to a problem oriented approach, placing listening to the voices of the people, doing practical things, and solving difficult problems in a prominent position. In response to the phenomenon of repeated water quality in Puhuitang, Xuhui District, the Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, in collaboration with the Xuhui District Ecology and Environment Bureau, conducted in-depth research on the front line and developed a water environment pollution traceability and water quality impact monitoring and evaluation plan for the entire river section. Multi spectral unmanned aerial vehicles, online unmanned water quality ships and other water, land and air three-dimensional inspection methods, as well as new traceability technologies such as water quality fingerprints and isotopes, were used to conduct a comprehensive physical examination of Puhuitang, real-time grasp the laws of pollution discharge and impact on the river during rainy days, accurately analyze the causes of repeated water quality, and provide scientific solutions for improving the water quality of Puhuitang.
One of the crux of the Yangtze River discharge outlet problem lies on the shore. The Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau conducted research on the three districts of Pudong, Baoshan, and Chongming. Based on grassroots experience and feedback from the public, they inspected the sewage direct discharge points and rainwater sewage mixing points one by one, determined the sewage collection plan according to local conditions, blocked the sewage direct discharge outlets, and explored the establishment of a system for rectifying and selling sewage discharge outlets into the river, in order to steadily improve the water quality along the Yangtze River. As of now, more than 90% of the Yangtze River discharge outlets have been renovated in Pudong New Area, Baoshan District, and Chongming District.
In the theme education, the Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau advocates service-oriented supervision, focusing on key industries such as service chips, automobiles, and chemicals, and formulates the Implementation Plan for Further Promoting the Exemption and Utilization of Hazardous Waste in Shanghai. While helping business entities reduce their burden, it also supports point-to-point resource recycling and recycling of waste, and serves the early realization of the "dual carbon" goal.
