Shanghai East China releases the upgraded version of the fifth generation domestically produced LNG ship, a shining gem in the shipbuilding industry, upgrading LNG ships | Global | Domestic
On July 21st, China Shipbuilding Corporation's subsidiary, Hudong Zhonghua, closely followed the latest global concept and released a three compartment large liquefied natural gas carrier jointly developed with French GTT company in Shanghai.
This is the "upgraded version" of the plus version launched by Hudong Zhonghua after the fifth generation of domestic LNG carriers ". The ship has a total length of 290.0 meters, a width of 46.4 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, a cabin capacity of 174000 cubic meters, a service speed of 19.5 knots, and a GTTNO96Supper cargo containment system.
The biggest highlight is the optimization of the traditional configuration of four liquid cargo tanks to three, which reduces the insulation layer area of the same volume of liquid cargo tanks by more than 7%, and makes the ship's hull lighter in weight, smaller in scale, fewer low-temperature equipment, more efficient in liquid tank materials, shorter in construction cycle, and easier in maintenance, thereby greatly improving the economy and convenience of the entire life cycle of the ship.
Since the successful delivery of the first large-scale LNG ship in 2008, Hudong Zhonghua has successively developed, designed, and built the second generation "Changjian" series, the third generation "Chang'an" series, the fourth generation "Changxing" series, and the fifth generation "Changheng" series LNG ships. It has delivered a total of 5 LNG transport ships and more than 40 23000 TEU dual fuel ultra large container ships powered by LNG in the world. Especially the fifth generation "Changheng" series of ship types, they are no less advanced than South Korea's most advanced ship types in international competition, setting a record of 34 ships per year for the same ship type worldwide.
The three compartment large liquefied natural gas transport ship released this time is also the latest concept in the international market and is expected to become the next popular model in the market.
On the same day, Shanghai East China also released China's first 98000 cubic meter liquid ammonia transport ship and a heavy-duty 16000 TEU methanol powered container ship. Including three large liquefied natural gas transport ships, the three green ship types have been awarded principle recognition certificates by five major international classification societies, including DNV, American Bureau of Shipping, Lloyd's Register of Shipping, French Bureau of Shipping, and China Classification Society.
These new ship types provide more Chinese solutions for the global shipping industry to achieve green, carbon reduction, and sustainable development.
