For manufacturing enterprises, safety production training is always a mandatory course for employees to enter the factory. How to make safety production training more deeply rooted in people's hearts? Shanghai Mitsubishi Electric · Shangling Air Conditioning Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd. has come up with a solution - using "unsafe houses" to further enhance employees' ability to identify hazards and create a safe factory. This case was shared at the recent Shanghai Trade Union Promotion of Work Safety Conference held by the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions.
The "unsafe house" is like a room, where the reporter saw two dummies wearing work clothes simulating factory assembly line operations, and one dummy squatting on the ground simulating equipment maintenance operations. The on-site person in charge introduced that the layout of the room basically restored the actual working environment of the workshop, and various tools and equipment that can be seen on the production site were moved in. However, there are nearly a hundred common and easily overlooked safety hazards hidden in the production site, from the wearing of dummies, the placement of tools, to the status of equipment and other details. For example, the rolled up cuffs of the dummy cannot protect the skin, the pneumatic gun hose is too long and prone to tripping, the tempering device is not marked with a replacement date, the drilling machine handle is damaged and there is no protective cover for the moving parts.
Mitsubishi Electric's Air Conditioning General Affairs Department Minister Liu Chunguang told reporters that "unsafe housing" is a "hurdle" that every new employee must pass. After employees enter the "unsafe room", there are three rounds of training and assessment. The first round is for employees to search on their own, the second round is prompted by trainers to search, and the third round is for trainers to inform employees of the problem points that have not been found, and to strengthen training on the corresponding knowledge blind spots of employees. For employees who fail the assessment, the company will arrange retraining until they pass.

"Nearly a hundred safety hazards can be divided into four categories. We have made a list, and employees need to identify them one by one. Usually, the entire training and assessment process takes 1 to 2 hours. Of course, there are usually omissions in the first round, and the second and third rounds are to fill in the gaps and reinforce them, just like a set of incorrect questions," said Liu Chunguang.
"Unsafe House" is an integral part of the company's safety training system. Liu Chunguang introduced that during the peak production season from March to July each year, Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners use a large number of outsourced workers to enter the assembly line for operation. Although new employees can go online directly after receiving short-term job training and three-level safety training, their ability to identify hazards is lacking, resulting in potential safety risks. Therefore, the important role of "unsafe housing" is to verify the results of safety training in the early stage, cultivate employees' awareness of actively discovering safety hazards and "finding faults", and provide another layer of insurance for safety production management.
The reporter learned that in the past, companies also used photos to ask employees to "find fault". And "Unsafe House" is an upgraded version of immersive experience, where employees are like playing "escape room" and must find the problem to pass.

"As we search for 'faults', everyone becomes enthusiastic. I have encountered many young people who come out of' unsafe houses' and say to me, 'Ah, I think there are still some safety hazards that can be added to the assessment content.' Mitsubishi Electric's air conditioning Lingqing factory workshop dispatcher Gu Yanliang is one of the trainers for 'unsafe houses'. He told reporters that now every factory area of the company has built an' unsafe house '. After training, employees will take the initiative to report safety hazards and actively offer suggestions to make the design of' unsafe houses' more perfect.
The continuous improvement of "unsafe housing" is also a microcosm of the continuous upgrading of enterprise safety training system. A manager of Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning told reporters that building an "unsafe house" is not difficult, but there is no end to safety production management. The fundamental purpose of safety training is to prevent accidents before they occur. Enterprises cannot relax their vigilance and must continuously optimize the effectiveness of safety training. Safety production is of utmost importance, and human life is paramount. Enterprises and employees must always bear this in mind.
