L'Oreal has launched 10 strategic suppliers at the Carbon Expo to become the main factory of the "Green Value Chain" alliance, with a focus on "low-carbon and not low-key". | Green | L'Oreal
If a green factory is described as "standing out on its own", the green supply chain is "full of spring scenery". At this time, the "supply chain owner" must bravely become the "green value chain leader".
At the first Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Technology, Products and Achievements Expo being held in Shanghai, the North Asia headquarters of global beauty giant L'Oreal, in conjunction with 10 strategic suppliers, jointly issued a "Low Carbon, Not Low key" carbon reduction declaration, committed to building a green supply chain and promoting full value chain carbon reduction.
The 10 strategic suppliers are Cainiao Group, Microsoft China, Huaxi Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Shanghai West Air Qidong Daily Chemical Co., Ltd., Tongling Jieya Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Sanying Packaging Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Zhengzhuang Industry Co., Ltd., Zhongshan Lianchang spray Pump Co., Ltd., Shanghai Yingyu Packaging Technology Co., Ltd. and Stora Enso.
10 strategic suppliers have all participated in CDP and Ecoodis ratings and agreed to join the carbon reduction action. L'Oreal will help them achieve their carbon reduction goals through training and sharing experiences.

In July 2022, L'Oreal partnered with nearly a hundred strategic suppliers to hold the L'Oreal North Asia and China Indirect Procurement Supplier Conference under the theme of "L'Oreal for Tomorrow, Low Carbon and Not Low key". The aim was to drive more suppliers to collaborate and respond to the global 1.5 degree temperature control plan. L'Oreal China has also established a "two-way rating" mechanism with suppliers, providing suggestions and requiring them to carry out rectification for suppliers who have not performed well in sustainable development. Just a few months after the conference, the factory of Yali Group in Suzhou successfully achieved carbon neutrality, becoming the first successful pilot of supplier cooperation for carbon reduction in L'Oreal North Asia.
Yali Group undertakes the label printing business in L'Oreal China's supply chain system. In 2017, they participated in the CDP rating for the first time, with a rating of D and only achieving "disclosure". To assist Yali Group's Suzhou factory in accelerating the process of green and low-carbon transformation, L'Oreal has invited representatives of Yali Group to participate in internal professional training and workshops multiple times during the cooperation period, covering experiences and methods in energy efficiency, energy conservation and emission reduction, and other fields.

Thanks to the guidance and support of our partners, the Suzhou factory of Yali Group has achieved carbon neutrality through three major steps: firstly, to minimize energy consumption, such as building insulation walls of over 44000 square meters in the factory, replacing office fluorescent lights with LED lights, and implementing a centralized office system; The second is to systematically upgrade factory equipment, such as using LED curing lights as the first drying equipment in the workshop, reducing electricity consumption by 50%; Using a centralized water cooling system to save energy by 30%; The third is to introduce renewable energy, such as laying approximately 1820 square meters of solar photovoltaic panels on the roof of factory buildings; The use of pure electric vehicles for employee shuttle buses and urban logistics delivery vehicles saves approximately 4500 liters of fuel annually
In November 2019, Yali Group officially announced that its factory in Suzhou would achieve carbon neutrality, becoming the first successful pilot of supplier cooperation for carbon reduction in L'Oreal North Asia. Yali Group aims to achieve a CDP rating of B by 2023 and an A rating by 2026.
Another important initiative of L'Oreal in building a green supply chain is to promote the use of more sustainable parcel solutions in e-commerce logistics. As early as 2018, L'Oreal China teamed up with Alibaba Group to start using non adhesive, easy to tear green packages in logistics, replacing fillers and outer packaging with environmentally friendly and recyclable materials, and promoting their application under its brand.
As of the end of 2022, L'Oreal China has sent 149 million green packages. On this basis, L'Oreal and Alibaba Group Cainiao launched an attempt at "circular packages" in Hangzhou in 2022. Compared to the single use of traditional packages, circular packages can be reused 40 times.
At the booth of this year's Carbon Expo, L'Oreal showcases a series of hand drawn graffiti works made of green packaging, conveying the concept of "beautiful consumption" to consumers.
