Does rainstorm and flood disaster in Beijing Tianjin Hebei affect vegetable supply in Shanghai? Hebei Zhangbei Cabbage and Radish Source to Shanghai Market | Shanghai | Vegetables
"Shanghai cuisine comes from all over the country". North China is one of the main sources of summer vegetables supply in Shanghai market. The rainstorm and flood disasters in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have a great impact on the local vegetable production. Is there any impact on the vegetable supply in Shanghai market?
The reporter learned from Shanghai Vegetable Group that the main supply to the Shanghai market at present is cold and high-altitude vegetables. The northern varieties mainly include scattered cauliflower, broccoli, kidney beans, etc. from Zhangbei Dam, Hebei Province, as well as jujube pepper, round pepper, beef pepper, etc. from Inner Mongolia, and tomatoes from Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Jilin, and Ningxia production areas. The southern varieties are mainly high-altitude vegetables from Yunnan, Guizhou and other regions. At present, wholesale markets such as Jiangqiao and Jiangyang under Shanghai Vegetable Group have sufficient vegetable supply, and trading volume is increasing day by day.
Zhangbei County in Hebei Province is a key production area for supplying cold and high-altitude vegetables to the Shanghai market. It is under the jurisdiction of Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Province, with an average altitude of over 1000 meters. Currently, the weather is sunny. Due to the cold climate, vegetables in Zhangjiakou are usually available for sale for more than three months after mid July, which happens to be the off-season for summer and autumn vegetable supply in temperate regions.
At Jiangqiao Market, the wholesale average price of Chinese cabbage from Zhangbei is currently 1.6 yuan/kg, and that of Changbai radish is 1.4 yuan/kg. In addition, the wholesale average price of Yunnan green vegetables is 3.9 yuan/kg, Lanzhou lettuce is 4.2 yuan/kg, Lanzhou scattered flowers are 3.6 yuan/kg, Shandong cucumber is 2.2 yuan/kg, and Henan cowpeas are 3.6 yuan/kg, with no price fluctuations.
The person in charge of wholesale operator Shanghai Changyao Agriculture told reporters that recently a large number of Changbai radishes from Zhangbei Bashang started to arrive in Shanghai, not only the price was stable, but also the transportation was basically not affected by the rainstorm and flood disasters in Beijing Tianjin Hebei region. "Recently, our products such as broccoli, peppercorns, zucchini, cabbage, and Chinese cabbage have been sold at relatively low prices, with some varieties priced at only a few cents per kilogram for wholesale."
