On July 16th, China Eastern Airlines officially took over the second domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft in Shanghai.
The C919 large passenger aircraft received by China Eastern Airlines this time is the second of the first five C919 aircraft purchased by China Eastern Airlines, and the cabin layout is consistent with the first aircraft. On July 14th, the East China Regional Administration of Civil Aviation issued the nationality registration certificate, airworthiness certificate, and radio station license for the second C919 aircraft to China Eastern Airlines, marking that the aircraft has obtained commercial operation qualifications and meets the airworthiness requirements of civil aviation regulations.
According to China Eastern Airlines' plan, the second C919 will partner with the first aircraft and be first deployed on the China Eastern Airlines' Shanghai Hongqiao Chengdu Tianfu air express line, gradually expanding more routes in the future.
As the world's first user of domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft, China Eastern Airlines officially received the world's first delivery of C919 on December 9, 2022; On May 28, 2023, China Eastern Airlines successfully completed the round-trip flight of the first commercial flight of C919, "Shanghai Hongqiao Beijing Capital". Since then, this C919 has served passengers on the Shanghai Chengdu Express.
As of July 12th, the first C919 has operated a total of 87 commercial flights, including 2 flights from Beijing to Shanghai and 85 flights from Shanghai to Chengdu, with an average passenger load factor of nearly 80%. It has served a total of 11095 passengers and operated for a total of 250.10 hours in commercial operations.
It is reported that after the first C919 delivery aircraft was put into operation, due to considerations such as on-site training and planned maintenance, it may not appear on commercial flights every day and carry passengers. After the second C919 made its debut on the Shanghai Chengdu Express, passengers will have more options to experience domestic large planes on China Eastern Airlines flights.
